Stephen Brandon

I've loved westerns and science fiction since I picked up my first book at the public library. I've been writing on my computer for years. I never planned on any of my stories being published, just to be read by myself, family, and friends. The base journal is on forty spreadsheets with links to about a thousand files of short one day paragraphs plus other stories. {My claim to fame, written by someone else. Thanks.} "As an earthbound retiree, Stephen writes mostly science fiction and short stories. He is a voracious reader and has written for a few years, publishing his stories on Smashwords."

    Chapter 1 A Happy Board

Bill looked down at the mahogany table at the six people sitting around it. His descendants were weird. Damn, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. The table was round except for one squared off end. The new board of directors facing him consisted of three members of the Adams family and three of his descendants. He could physically feel the hatred directed at the head of the table. OK, now for the first order of business. Who wants to kill me?

The shocked look on their faces so strong he couldn't have gotten a better reaction if he'd hit them with a stick. Almost unanimously they denied their hatred. Only the older woman sitting halfway down the table didn't speak or move. She calmly looked at him and stated, Your descendants have hounded us and killed us for four hundred years. Nothing, and I mean nothing can change that! I would laugh and dance on your grave, if I had any way to put you in one.

"Thank you for your honesty. Sam and I collaborated on finding the asteroid that started all this. After I supposedly died in the earthquake, Sam and my son kept the ball rolling and slowly built on my discovery. I imagine they had a hell of a time keeping the greedy corporate bastards from setting up a totalitarian government out here. I knew both of them and their character. However, after they died, the history of
