About this ebook

In a city full of giants, can one tiny girl find her way home?
She is a girl three inches tall with eyes like drops of dew. Her clothes are cut from handkerchiefs and stitched with spider silk. For half her life, she has been trapped in a birdcage while her giant kidnapper sits beside her, writing in a leather-bound book the size of a house. Her name is Lily, and tonight she is escaping. She is going home. To Lilliput.
Inspired by Gulliver’s Travels, Lilliput is an exhilarating and imaginative adventure filled with cunning escape plans, evil clock makers, and talkative parrots. Join Lily as she travels through eighteenth-century London—over rooftops, down chimneys, and into chocolate shops—on a journey to find the one place in the world where she belongs…home.

Sam Gayton

Sam Gayton grew up in Kent with a cat called Archibald, a dog called Ruby, a bunch of humans, and a ghost called Kevin. He spent his days playing with Lego, and making comics with his friend Loo Loo. Nowadays, Sam still loves Lego and comics. But he also loves drinking tea (milk, no sugar), eating pizza (pepperoni, extra cheese), and wondering how long he would survive a zombie apocalypse (probably about fourteen minutes).

In this "sequel" to Gulliver's Travels we meet Lilly, a kidnapped Lilliputian. Gulliver has returned to Lilliput and snatched Lily to take back to London. This is his "proof" that Lilliput exists. He keeps her prisoner in a birdcage in London while he writes his book. He will take her out publicly when he finishes his book. Lily, of course, wants to escape and tries numerous times. The characters in this story, Gulliver, Mr. Plinker, Finn, Chitchat, Swift, Mr. Ovinda, and Horatio all add dimension to the story whether they are helping Lily or hindering her. With her trusty needle she calls "Stabber" she is finally able to escape the attic, but how will she ever get back to Lilliput.

This book is geared to Middle Graders, but younger more competent readers would enjoy it as well. The only downfall would be the somewhat violent death at the end. I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to students who enjoy fantasy, especially after maybe doing a read aloud of Gulliver's Travels.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
