Dedicated To My Son Troy C. Stewart, Jr. & Beloved Wife Manuela A. Stewart
Dear Readers,
I have been a behavior support consultant for approximately six years. During my career, I’ve had the privilege of gaining a material wealth of information, and experience to provide effective positive behavior supports to many individuals with developmental disabilities.
In the beginning of my career, I was concerned that I wouldn’t enjoy or find behavioral health an exciting adventure. One topic that concerned me the most a constant struggle to achieve and maintain resiliency. Not for me but for the Parents, and Caregivers of special needs individuals.
A Behavior Support Consultant provides behavior support services which is rarely an easy task. While providing services, you have an opportunity to meet people who have worked hard for years in modifying maladaptive behaviors. At some point the circle of doubt may set in if changes aren’t seen or reinforced over time.
The other concern is the support, and expert staff who are dedicated but loose sight of the teamwork model for success. Some people work in behavior health, and view it as a means of employment – and that’s it ! There are very few people who work in this field, and do so for a noble cause.
My recommendation to everyone reading is that you become a behavior support consultant for one purpose. The main purpose should be to focus on making a positive difference in another person’s life. When you approach behavior support consulting with this approach, you will always be successful.
It is my personal wish that the reader gets the most out of this book. I want my readers to positively submerge themselves in an ever-changing field (behavior health). The concepts, and perspectives that I present in this book have helped me to become a successful behavior support consultant. As a reader, you have the ability, and opportunity to make behavior support a success story for yourself.
Use the information provided in this book to encourage, and facilitate positive behavioral change. Continue to read my succeeding volumes for more enlightenment. It is my sincere hope that you feel informed, and better-equipped to handle behavior modification after reading my book.
img1.jpgimg2.jpgLearning and Behavior are the paint that makes a perfect picture. When the paint is mixed correctly, the picture is beautiful to reflect an even pattern…that reflected pattern is behavior…the process of change is modification, the paint brushes are behavior support techniques, and the painter is a behavior support consultant...

img3.jpgPrologue
This book is the best guide that you will ever read! This book is a hands-on, blunt, unorthodox but helpful resource for the behavior health practitioner. First of all, it gets straight to the point, and doesn’t measure up to any other formal materials that you may have checked out. I must inform you that this book is extremely informal, and only serves one purpose. The purpose of this book is to provide you with a new approach to behavior support consulting. This new approach
is my own perspective, which I consider an alternative approach.
Before venturing out any further, I feel that it is essential to disclose a few key points to ensure genuine understanding between my readers and I. Let’s start with a disclaimer that will keep the contents of this book into a reasonable, and balanced perspective. You will take notice that this book does not contain any references or cited material. My reasoning for this is quite simple: I made a decision to provide my perspective, and wanted to preserve the practicality of innovation without professional
