About this ebook

This is a short story for teens. Kelly Webster's Mom wanted her to get off the phone, quit texting and start living. Kelly was reluctant. Since her father died, she'd buried herself in texting. But Mom insisted she sign up for something in school to get involved in. She didn't care what, but she wanted her involved in something. So Kelly grabbed the first club she could find, it was a backpacking adventure club, in which they took a hike once a year in the summer. This summer they were going to Yosemite National Park. Kelly was in great shape, but she wasn't a hiker. But when she met her hiking partner, Billy Williams, he made it sound a lot better than she expected. Her father loved hiking. She'd never gone with him. The trip was an eye opener, as Kelly realized it wasn't so bad and that the air was fresher here and the view was spectacular. Not only that, but she and Billy were getting to know each other pretty well. Since the school had announced her father's death over the intercom before they even told her, she had wrapped herself in a cocoon and stayed there, but Billy had a way of bringing her around.

Hi friendsI'd like to ask a favor, not just for me but for all writers. PLease when we offer a free book, it would be wonderful if you'd take the time to rate the book. This doesn't take much time out of your day and authors really apreciate your time to do this. I know not everyone wants to sit down and write a review, but rating the book will help as well. And a big thanks to all who do this. You never know how much an author appreciates you taking the time to do this.I finally finished The Car Stalker. Hope you'll check it out. This is the second book in the stalker series. Like I said mystery is much different from romance all though there are elements in romance in my stalker books too. Today I finished an another book in my series of Vets coming home, Better Every Day. This book takes the angle of when family interrupts your plans. When a one-night stand is much more. I love this story as it hits home. So two new books out now and more coming.I'm taking the time to write while confined at home. But lack of seeing people outside, and living alone all the time is not new to me. I've got lots of stories to tell so be on the lookout for my newest releases. You might check out my Searchin g for You Indian romance on Amazon too. There are several new free books for you enjoyment, since your stuck at home. Home you enjoy them.As for a bio, suffice it to say, I'm a Texan tried and true. I have grown children and grandchildren and already some great-grandchildren. I've done multi jobs in my lifetime giving me a variety of experiences to write and talk about. I've done many different kinds of work from Texas Instruments, to City of Garland, to working for the Wylie Independent School District. I've worked for a hat factory, filing insurance claims, secretarial work, to waitress work. My writing reflects my varied background. Another note I've had a in home day care for twenty years too. So when I write about something I have a general knowledge of it too, which is a real bonus for me. Just like my public work, my writing varies too from contemporary to historical, I write romance, thrillers, children's. A lot of people might say gee, that's a lot of different jobs, and it is, but, I've learned from them all, and I use that experience in my writing.I want to thank all the readers over a length of time that have tried some of my books. I hope I've enlightened and entertained you. I hope I've shared some love in this world. Chapter One

Mom, what do you want me to do? Kelly Webster cried as her mother stood over her with dismay. She came into her room and caught her on the phone again, texting. But everyone did it. And Kelly especially liked the fact that she could say things she wouldn’t normally say on the phone in a text message.

I want you to get your nose out of that phone and do something with yourself. I want you to join some clubs or activities at school where you actually get out and participate in some kind of sport or event. It's not healthy your nose stuck in a phone all day, just texting.

A club? What kind of club? Kelly protested.

I don't care, one that gets you out of this house and in to doing something. I want you to check the curriculum out at school and see what they offer. When you come home tomorrow from school I want to see some evidence of you joining something.

Alright, alright. I'll join something. She griped.

Good. Her mother left the room to give her time to think about it.

Instead she texted her friend Heather and asked her what kind of clubs were still open this time of year at school. Heather texted her right back. She only knew of one that was open for more students. It was a nature backpacking adventure club.

Kelly sighed. You got to be kidding. She texted her back.

Nope, that's all that's open, why?

Mom wants me to join something so I get my nose out of the phone all day. Have you ever heard of anything so lame in your life? Kelly protested. I mean she's just not with the times. Everyone texts.

Parents just don't understand us. But all the other clubs are full up this year. Heather told her. What are you going to do?

Kelly sighed. I'll check it out tomorrow. Thanks.

She went into the living room and glared at her mother. Why was her mother so opposed to her texting, she didn't get it? There was no harm in it. She wasn't doing anything wrong or illegal, so why was she always so upset about it.

The next day Kelly went to the science room and waited
