    Chapter 1

    Marc

    Imprisoned in a city without borders. He stood in the very middle of its centre looking through 3 meters height glazed wall of his apartment. The city that never sleeps. It lives all the time but in the late evening and in the night, its face changes. It becomes a place resembling of the slow ghost that moves lazily on its chamber.

    He hates this place but at the same time it excites him. With all its contents. He is most fascinated by its dark side. The side which is forgotten by a day, because you cannot see it, but which revives during the night. Powerlessness, anger, frustration… Aggression and lust… Fornication, rape and murder… He could feel that all in the space of the city. The whole muck of the humanity which may seem to be only in the place where so many people live. Nearly 3 million. Block on the block. Flat on the flat. How in such density can you keep normality and healthy reason? He has the good fortune to live in the 33 floor of a modern skyscraper. She earned it.

    He works in a large company and holds the position of the managing partner. He works from 9 am to 9 or 10 pm. He empathizes with most corporate employees. He’s aware that 99,8 % of them will occupy the same position throughout their lives, or get promoted once or twice. Only a small percentage of them will take place on the top, earning six-figure sum.

    He came up to the length of 3 meters table top made of Italian marble. He opened the bar and took out a 10-year-old whiskey. He filled two square glasses to 1/3 volume. He threw 3 ice cubes to each.

    The door’s bell rang. He heard how they opened and closed after a while. In a moment, a tall and lovely brunette Lexi stepped into the living room, on small but sharp heels. She was dressed in a bright skirt and jacket, under which she wore pale pink, breathable shirt. Her perfectly arranged hair and toned makeup made that she looked dignified in her divinity. She was a woman who cared about every detail of her life and her image with great precision.

    Without a word he looked into her side handing her a glass of whiskey. She thanked him with a nod and followed him. They stopped in front of the
