Sewing for Beginners - Rose Heller

    Why I’m Writing This Book

Back when I was going to school, home economics was still part of the curriculum. It wasn’t just baking cakes and making macaroni and cheese, home economics back in my time was cooking, sewing, and other basic home skills. Don’t get me wrong; we aren’t talking about 1960’s how to be a proper housewife classes, we are talking about 1980’s – 1990’s basic skills you need in the real world classes.

As I have aged, however, I have noticed a distinct change in the school curriculums around the country. While children still learn minimal cooking skills and still enjoy woodshop and metal shop classes, there is a distinct lack of other life skill lessons (like sewing) being taught. This is why I decided to sit down and put together my own sewing for beginner’s book.

If you are one of the many people who missed out on the chance to learn sewing through school classes, but you want to learn this most basic of skills, then this is the book for you. Open up to chapter one and get started!
