    Introduction

    Thank you for buying my book the A to Z of Confidence.

    My aim for you, in reading my book, is that you’ll be able to increase your confidence.

    After reading it, you’ll be able see opportunities all around you to increase your confidence, literally everywhere. You’ll see how everything, in one way or another affects your confidence, and will either

    (1) bring it down, or

    (2) is an opportunity to increase it.

    As you have bought my book, you are already interested in increasing your confidence.

    This excites me, as I know from first-hand experience the huge benefits increasing your confidence brings.

    I don’t know how far along the confidence path you are, whether you are,

    - right at the very start, or

    - a seasoned traveller along the confidence road.

    Either way my book will benefit you, as long as you use it.

    It is really good news that you’ve decided to grow your confidence, for confidence is one of the main building blocks, or foundations for living a great, successful and fulfilled life.

    The more confidence you have the more you’ll enjoy and get out of life.

    A deep and strong confidence, your deep and strong confidence, will literally allow you to change every aspect of your life, for the better.

    The good news is that confidence is a skill and as such you can study, work and train to increase it. My book will help you do just that.

    There is no great secret to confidence; it’s just a matter or working to develop it as a skill.

    The material in my book is useful, but how useful is down to you. It can either

    - change your life infinitely for the better, or

    - it could have almost no impact, other than the couple of hours it’ll take you to read it, if you just read it and don’t apply it.

    It’s down to you.

    My book contains 238 topics relating to confidence. A great many of them will have direct application to your life. Just flick through the list of topics and you’ll see this.

    In the A to Z of Confidence, there are two main things to look out for:

    A – Confidence Influencers, and

    B – Techniques for increasing your confidence.

    A – Confidence Influencers: – These are events that will either increase, or decrease your confidence, depending on

    (1) how you deal with them, and

    (2) what you think about them. If you are aware of what sort of events are confidence influences, you will be able to make better decisions that help increase your confidence, rather than let it decrease.

    B – Techniques: – These are things you can do (rather than situations) that enable you to fight back against confidence influencers so you can boost your confidence up when you are dealing with a challenging situation, that requires more confidence.

    You have to use the information and techniques in my book. If you are not going to use the information, there is little point you reading it. Make a decision now, to (i) read my book, and (ii) as soon as you’ve finished reading it, to use some of the information or techniques.

    If you can’t decide to actually use my book, your time is better of spent doing something else.

    Becoming really confident is hard work. This is perhaps why a lot of people are not really confident. It’s up to you whether or not you put in the hard work to become confident. I would urge you to put in as much hard work as you can into becoming confident, as putting in the hard work will pay off in every area of your life. Don’t expect becoming a confidence master to be easy, it won’t be. But don’t lose heart. A lot of the steps will be easy and fun.

    I’ve been studying confidence for quite a few years, and have used the knowledge and techniques I’ve learnt to boost my own confidence and the confidence of my clients.

    From my research and experience I can confirm the following:

    1 – The techniques, do work!

    2 – The return you get from investing in confidence, far far outweighs the time and effort you have to put into it.

    3 – The techniques and information in my book, are gold, but only if you use them. The more you use them, the more valuable they become to you.

    So, I’ve said my piece, and nothing is left but for you to get on with

    (1) reading my book, and

    (2) using my book.

    Using The Material In My Book

    My aim for you, in reading my book, is that you’ll be able to increase your confidence straight away, and continue increasing your confidence over the rest of your life.

    The first thing I think you need to do is to read the whole book, and read it quickly. Too many people start reading books but never finish them. A quick web search will show a lot of people do this. I know this, as I’ve got a long list of books I’ve started, but never finished. Don’t be one of those people who start but never finish books. And certainly don’t be one of them – in relation to my book.

    Make a firm decision now, that you will read my book to the end. If you need to, agree with yourself a reward for having read my book to the end. Take a moment now to agree with yourself

    (1) you’ll finish my book, and

    (2) how you will reward yourself for reading my book, cover to cover.

    Also, take a few moments to visualise and feel the boost in confidence you will receive just by:

    (1) – deciding to read my book to the end,

    (2) – reading my book to the end.

    By reading my book to the end you will have shown yourself to be:

    – Decisive,

    – Determined,

    – Persevering,

    – Strong and

    – Confident.

    So, just by

    (1) deciding to read my book, and

    (2) reading it to the end, regardless of what you find between the covers, you’ll have boosted your confidence.

    So before you read another word:

    1 – Make the decision, to read my book from cover to cover regardless,

    2 – Decide on what reward you’ll give yourself for showing your confidence, in finishing my book,

    3 – Close your eyes and visualise of fantasize yourself having read my book from cover to cover and feeling more confident for having done so.

    After reading my book you’ll be able see opportunities all around you to increase your confidence, literally everywhere. You’ll see how everything, in one way or another affects your confidence.

    The information in my book will help you to become a more knowledgeable and experienced student of confidence.

    Your first aim should be to read my book from cover to cover as quickly as you can in order to get an overview of it.

    Before you actually speed read my book, just:

    (1) read the table of contents, then

    (2) quickly flick through my book, pausing briefly at any entries that catch your attention.

    Once you’ve done this, read my book from cover to cover once, so you understand what is in my book. I would advise that you just read it as quickly as you can, without thinking about it too much, just get your overview of it.

    Aim to finish it as quickly as possible.

    You will be able to see by doing the above that the material in my book is:

    1 – organised in a traditional A to Z, or dictionary format. This aids your use of it as a reference book.

    2 – wide ranging, in that it covers a very wide range of topics, and many of the topics are directly relevant to your life.

    Of the 238 topics covered, some will have:

    1 – more relevance to you than others, or

    2 – attracted you more than others.

    I would suggest that you flick through my book, or look at the table of contents again and write down those topics that connected with you the most. Then re-read these topics. Also make a note of the techniques in this group. Use this list of techniques as a

    (1) to do list, or

    (2) goal list, to work through.

    Try each technique in turn and see which ones you enjoy the most and which boosts your confidence the most.

    As I’ve said previously, you can divide the entries into:

    (1) Confidence Influencers, or

    (2) Techniques.

    Bear this in mind as you read through my book.

    After you’ve become familiar with the content of my book, you need to start making some of the techniques into habits. This is done by repeating the techniques on a regular basis for long enough. Habits are very powerful, and turning some of the techniques into habits will very powerfully advance your cause to become a confident person.

    Once a technique is a habit, you don’t have to think about it and hardly have to put any effort into it – you do it automatically, and automatically get the confidence boost from it.

    You are already an expert in creating habits, as your low self-confidence comes directly from habits you’ve made which automatically cause you to have low confidence. This will change as a result of my book.

    You don’t have to learn the material in my book. It would be great for you to do so, but as you already own my book, you can go back to it at any time. If you are not going to learn the material, all you need to do is make sure you are familiar with what is in my book.

    Learning the material and habitualizing the techniques in my book will be hard work (until you’ve created your habits), but the effort is worthwhile. Anything worth having is worth putting in the hard work to get it. Don’t be afraid of the hard work involved.

    The Hard Work You’ll Have To Put In

    Now that I’ve given you an idea of what’s in my book and how you can approach it, the next thing I need to discuss with you is the hard work you are going to need to put into using my book to become a more confident person.

    Now confidence is just a skill like any other. This is good news for you. As it’s a skill you can improve it through:

    - study,

    - training, and

    - practice.

    Confidence is not something we either have, or don’t have, it is learned. There is no great secret to confidence; it’s just a matter or working to develop it as a skill, and the
