    A Message from the President/CEO . . .

We at R.H. Boyd would like to welcome you to another quarter of uplifting and insightful study of God’s Word. This quarter we will celebrate one of the most significant Christian holidays—Easter. Through our central focus on God’s great love for us through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ, we aim to continue to provide doctrinally sound worship and study materials of excellent quality. For 121 years we have striven to fulfill the vision of our founder, Dr. R.H. Boyd, to provide you with the best literature for the African-American church.

In this quarter, we continue to focus on God’s love for humanity. In April, the five lesson unit called God’s Caring, Saving, and Upholding Love reveals God as Protector, Preserver, Healer, Comforter, and Savior of the people through the books of Psalms, John, and Romans.

In May, we have a unit titled God’s Pervasive and Sustaining Love, which has four lessons from the book of Jonah highlighting God’s unconditional love for humans and the natural world, as well as God’s continuing care and concern for individual and group relationships and developments. Through these lessons we continue to witness God’s love for humanity.

In June, we have a unit titled Called to Be Strong, which introduces the era of the judges and begins a discussion of God’s calling for His believers. In this unit, the power of God shows through those who faithfully serve Him and encourages us to answer God’s call.

May this quarter of study bring you closer to our Holy Father and bring great glory and honor to His name.

    In His Service,

    Dr. T. B. Boyd III

    President/CEO

    QUARTERLY OVERVIEW

God’s love for us is evident in Scripture from the creation of the first humans through God’s constant interactions with individuals and groups of people in their historical circumstances and developments. A survey of select Old and New Testament Scriptures reveals dynamic and encouraging aspects of God’s constant love for people.

    UNIT I — APRIL

Unit I, God’s Caring, Saving, and Upholding Love, has five lessons drawn from Psalms, John, and Romans. The first lesson reveals total reliance on God as a Shepherd who cares for every need of the sheep. The second lesson reveals God’s love in sending His only Son for salvation. The third lesson recounts the resurrection event in which God’s love is displayed as victory over death. The fourth lesson elaborates on the force and power of God’s love in Christ. Lesson five focuses on Jesus’ words describing Himself in the role of the Good Shepherd.

    UNIT II — MAY

Unit II, God’s Pervasive and Sustaining Love, has four lessons from the book of Jonah. The first lesson concentrates on God’s care for the natural world and humanity. The second lesson focuses on God’s providential care in preserving Jonah in the belly of the fish. The third lesson focuses on God’s love and preservation of a nation of people who repent and turn to God. The fourth lesson depicts and elaborates on God’s pervasive love for all creation.

    UNIT III — JUNE

The lessons in Unit III, Called to Be Strong, introduce the era of the judges. The book of Judges continues the history of Israel after Joshua’s death. God raised up a series of national leaders called judges. Empowered by God, judges delivered the people from their enemies.
