Introduction
The saddest summary of a life contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have.
- Louis E. Boone
The RV lifestyle. For most of us, this is just a dream. Something to fantasize about while passing the time at our 9 to 5 jobs. That was me for most of my life, always daydreaming about the adventures I’d one day take. Eventually, I came to the realization that time wasn’t slowing down and if I wanted to live out any of those adventures, I’d need to take action and manifest my dreams into reality. It wasn’t easy, and I didn’t have a helpful guide like this one to break down what steps I needed to take but I was able to cut the cord on my old life and begin traveling on the road full-time in my RV. The last few years have been an amazing experience. I’ve seen incredible things, made new friends, and visited more places than I can remember. Don’t get me wrong, RV living requires a lot of work. However, the payoff is beyond compare. I no longer need to worry about looking back on my life with regret. I’ve learned that by taking positive action towards my goal no matter how big or small I’ll eventually get to where I want to be in my life. I hope you can take something positive from all of my experiences on the road and transition to living the RV life you’ve been dreaming of.
First off, I want to thank you for grabbing this book. Having your own RV allows you the ability to see the world in a way most people don’t get to experience it. You’ll have the freedom to roam the countryside taking time hang out in spots you enjoy and passing through those that aren’t for you. Personally, I enjoy avoiding the cold weather whenever possible so I always plan my routes to keep me and my family in a state of perpetual summer. You might want to plan your route differently. That’s the wonderful thing about RV living. You can live your life however you prefer and if you change your mind, you can adjust on the fly without any major issues. In this book, I’ll discuss how you can live a life of travel and adventure. I’ll be breaking down what steps you’ll want to take before getting started, how to plan and budget for your trip, along with a ton of other useful information.
Learning on your own can be rewarding but can also lead to setbacks and extra expenses. I’ve already gone through the struggle of getting started. Learn from my experiences so you don’t make the same types of mistakes I was guilty of. You’ll be much happier for it, plus you’ll be ready to start enjoying your life even quicker. In the end isn’t that what this is all about. The ability to find freedom and enjoy your life as you see fit. After all, our time on this earth is far too short. I know I would rather live it experiencing what the world has to offer rather than being chained down to a life I find dull and uninteresting. In the beginning, you might feel overwhelmed and frightened. Don’t worry! Change always requires some adjustment. Fear will always try to sneak its way into your mind and make you doubt your decisions. Be resolute and go for what you want out of life. You’ll be thankful that you did.
I don’t want to make RV living sound like it comes with no drawbacks because it does. Living on the road requires a lot of work. While I find it to be an amazing way to live, you need to stay on top of things. Knowing how to budget and plan are key ingredients to living a successful life on the road. Being prepared for everything will allow you to thrive no matter what circumstances you find yourself in. I suggest doing your due diligence and taking a few test runs before cutting the cord completely. Once you’ve decided on living the RV lifestyle, you can begin laying all the future groundwork to making your RV dreams come true.
Best of luck! I’m pumped to get going. Let’s get started!
