About this ebook

Nothing is one-sided, this is the essence of polarity. The wisdom of nature reminds us all action has an equal and opposite reaction so we can learn and act accordingly.

Before Natro, Resna, and Xavor ruled the kingdom of Jacmuir they were ordinary college students navigating their senior year at Jacmuir University. Every graduate dreams of securing the perfect job after graduation but for Resna, the stress of an imminent career opportunity will cause her to reveal a family secret she never wanted to keep.

As the semester pressure builds around final projects and exams, Resna is trying to keep everything together at home, at work, and at school. Since Natro is consumed with his knighthood duties, she decides to figure out her next step after graduation alone. When Natro discovers Resna may move away from Jacmuir, he’s forced make an unexpected decision about their relationship. At the same time, Resna’s mother tries to force Resna to stop spending her extra time at home, which causes an ugly truth to be revealed.

    Jacmuir - Angeline M. Bishop

    Dedication

    For you,

Each of us has divine royalty within us but we need to be brave enough to nurture it. This prequel novella shows Natro, Resna, and Xavor's path to the Jacmuir monarchy.

    Acknowledgments

This novella was formed from my admiration of college students that work hard to manage their ever-changing lives. The stress can be overwhelming but there are many people that want to help you manage your life choices and discover your inner strength. I hope you enjoy this short story because its creation wouldn't exist without the support of some wonderful people.

    ––––––––

To my husband and Heart Mate, Gary, thank you for supporting me in my journey to become a better writer. I've been blessed since the day you came into my life and I pray our lives will continue to be filled with love, peace, and happiness.

    ––––––––

To my daughters, Mil'resa and Nicole, thank you for being my loudest cheerleaders. Being able to call myself your mother is privilege and a pleasure. I'm very proud that you have completed your undergraduate degrees and are ready to leave your mark on this world. #Blessed

    ––––––––

To my stepsons, Ajib and Ahsehale, and my stepdaughters, Lakesha (a.k.a. Boss Lady), Latonia, and Brandy, thank you for your support and encouragement. Remember to always make time to enjoy each other. Thank you for welcoming me into your family.

    ––––––––

To Rev. Dr. DeForest B. Soaries Jr., Bishop TD Jakes, and Mr. Devon Franklin for proclaiming the importance of following a spiritual compass, having a prayerful heart, and never being afraid to give honor to the All-Knowing One for all of the blessings He bestows. Each of you continue to remind me from who all blessing flow.

    ––––––––

To my supportive JacPack (Jacmuir Series Readers), thank you for your confidence and patience. It means so much to have your support and encouragement to share my stories with you.

    Chapter One

    RESNA

Every day I find some way to do my job and hers. I'm never gifted with just one moment where I can check out and take a vacation from the long checklist she still hasn’t managed to master. She’s like a new intern trying desperately to impress some bigwig to grant her a job, but we both know she’s a fraud. She’ll never be able to live up to the title of mother, and I’m tired of watching her try.

My thoughts race as I maneuver the car into my younger brothers’ school parking lot so I can watch their soccer practice come to an end. I always make sure to park in the same area and then wait for it. That little gesture that lets me know they’re aware of me.  It’s not the over-exuberant wave in my direction or any annoying repetitive glances toward me.  Instead, they touch the visor of their baseball caps, then brush imaginary dust from their left shoulders. In return, I lower the passenger-seat sun visor and wait.

It’s a system we developed years ago to reassure them I'm not going to leave them stranded. It’s a shame they have to worry about something like that, but our childhood has been anything but normal.

Shouldn't you be honking the horn and motioning them to get a fire under their behinds? C'mon already. We don't have time for this, Silena pouts as she strums her ruby-red fingernails on the armrest.

You say that every time we pick them up.

And I mean it every time we have to pick them up.  Listen, this scene is getting old. It's only two miles to your house; can't they ride their bikes after school or something?

I watch as my little brothers, Keyan and Kalix, begin to gather their soccer equipment and say their good-byes. It's actually four miles, and the sooner they get home, the sooner they can get their homework done before dinner.

I'm never surprised at how Silena expects everyone to be as independent as she is. She can hardly sit still as she removes the sunglasses covering her blue eyes and lets them rest on top of her platinum-blonde hair. What's your mom cooking tonight anyway?

Cooking? I doubt she even realizes what time it is.

"I can't say I pity you, because my mom isn't
