About this ebook

The step-by-step scientific approach to attracting financial and spiritual wealth

• This is the 100-year-old book that inspired Rhonda Byrne's bestselling The Secret

• Explains the precise series of practical steps that, if followed, guarantee prosperity

• Reveals the secrets that underlie today’s success and prosperity movements

In his bestselling book, Wallace D. Wattles explains that “universal mind” underlies and permeates all creation. Through the process of visualization we can engage the law of attraction--impressing our thoughts upon “formless substance” and bringing the desired object or circumstances into material form. The author emphasizes the critical importance of attitude: only by aligning ourselves with the positive forces of natural law can we gain unlimited access to the creative mind and its abundant rewards.

The Science of Getting Rich holds the secret to how economic and emotional security can be achieved in a practical, imaginative, and noncompetitive way, while maintaining a loving and harmonious relationship with all of life. By living in accordance with the positive principles outlined in this book, we can find our rightful place in the cosmic scheme and create for ourselves an environment in which to grow in wealth, wisdom, and happiness.

Rhonda Byrne, in her book and DVD, The Secret, tells how a 100-year-old book entered her life and changed it forever. Here is that book. Written in 1910, The Science of Getting Rich inspired Byrne to create her bestselling DVD, and subsequently, to write her book. She has said that it “gave me a glimpse of The Secret. It was like a flame inside of my heart. And with every day since, it's just become a raging fire of wanting to share all of this with the world.”

“There is a science of getting rich. It is an exact science, like algebra or arithmetic. There are certain laws which govern the process of acquiring riches. Once a person learns and obeys these laws, he will get rich with mathematical certainty.”

Very powerful reading. A book that you won't want to put down once you have started to read it. Though written years ago in 1910 to be exact, the message is still vibrant and fresh today and the principles can be adapted for today's life style. Wallace D. Wattles is basically saying that the real power and science of getting rich lies within everyone of us, we just need instructions or guidance how to use it to benefit us in our daily lives.

I just rated this as 4 stars since I haven’t proven yet that the theories stated in this book are true. Overall, I love the way Wattles explained his theory by means of using simple lay man’s terms. He also uses a Christian perspective as an example which makes it easier for anyone to understand. This book does not only open your mind to the possibility that being rich can be easily attained but it also explains in detail how to actually do it. It helps to overcome the common notion that being wealthy is applicable only for those who are already born rich. We have to start changing these negative perceptions by embracing the power of positive thinking and begin to act upon it.Note: I’ve read an eBook version (Published April 19th 2007 by Tarcher) which is already simplified thus it’s easier to understand than the original one that was published in 1910.

Written in the late 1800's and reportedly the prelude to the Secret, this small book has powerful directions for getting rich. Its a science that anyone can use with the right set of instructions. The author eventually got rich, but died early in life. However his thoughts and ideas are as relevant today as they were when he put them on paper.

This is the original work that brought to light concepts like "law of attraction", the "Original Substance" i.e. God, impressing your thoughts on the "Thinking Substance", etc. and it was published in 1910 (!) Later books like "Think and Grow Rich" and the latest "bestsellers" like "The Secret", are simply extensions of this primal book. Read it, practice it, be wealthy beyond the simple possession of "stuff". This is a book for your mind and your spirit.

Key insights that I interpret from this book that I feel inspired to share are:1. Be in a state of gratitude2. Try to act in the present moment to do the best I can do at each moment3. Try to leave each person I meet with the feeling of increase, and give them more in value than what they pay for your product/service4. Try to hold the thought(s) of what you want in mind and know that it will create a magnetic process to attract what you would like but be sure to know that inspired action will also be needed on our part

This quad is insanely fluffy-smooth on the palate, with an even, full-body and semi-sharp carbonation edge that knocks the silky bliss down for a moment. The softness returns as a mildly sweet malt profile, with dried raisins, powdery dark chocolate, sweet cherries soaked in alcohol and a slight tartness of strawberries. Hop character coats with a leafy feel on the palate, yielding a delicate noble hop bitterness, as well as a touch of cheesiness and pithiness. This melds with spicy phenols, which lends a slight medicinal flavor that wanders within the spicy alcohol and heat. Finish is very dry, with residual yeast and crackery lingers.

Simple and concise, this book presents the heart of the Law of Attraction in different vocabulary. It made more sense to me, has affirmed things I already know and inspired me to persevere towards my life vision.

The Science of Getting Rich - Wallace D.Wattles

PUBLISHER’S PREFACE

Wallace Wattles’ The Science of Getting Rich occupies a unique place in the sizeable library of guidebooks to wealth and happiness. It blends ideas about right livelihood and positive thinking with concrete suggestions for making positive affirmations.

Mr. Wattles presents his ideas as a science of getting rich. He describes a bountiful universe in which divine purpose works in harmony with human aspirations. This cosmos is a creative, constantly expanding place in which human beings can create form out of formless potential through the power of their purpose and faith—through the creation of clear images joined to concrete action in the present.

There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the interspaces of the universe.

A thought in this substance produces the thing that is imaged by the thought.

A person can form things in his thought, and by impressing his thought upon formless substance, can cause the thing he thinks about to be created.

The science of getting rich is infallible and is available to every person. By choosing a creative rather than a competitive plan, an individual taps into the infinite potential of the universe.

See the things you want as if they were actually around you all the time; see yourself as owning and using them. Make use of them in imagination just as you will use them when they are your tangible possessions.

There is no excuse for failing in the science of getting rich. Abundance is our birthright. Any problem lies in our confusion and our not knowing how to apply the natural laws that could and should make this abundance available to all of us.

This premise of this book has been proven over the years. When the author first formulated his science, air travel had not yet become a commercial endeavor. Yet he heartily recommended it as an area in which millions of people could find employment and in which great wealth would accumulate. He was certainly right. His science of getting rich will help you to find your appropriate place in the cosmic scheme so that you can create for yourself a harmonious environment in which you can grow in wealth, wisdom and knowledge.

INTRODUCTION

This book is pragmatical, not philosophical. It is a practical manual, not a treatise on theories. It is intended for the men and women whose most pressing need is for money—for people who wish to get rich first and philosophize afterward. It is for those who have, so far, found neither the time, the means, or the opportunity to go deeply into the study of metaphysics. It is intended for those who want results and who are willing to take the conclusions of science as a basis for action—without going into all the processes by which those conclusions were reached.

I expect the reader to take my statements on faith just as he would take statements concerning a law of electrical action if they were promulgated by a Marconi or an Edison. By taking these statements on faith, he will prove their truth by acting upon them without fear or hesitation. Every man or woman who does this will certainly get rich. The science in this book is an exact science, and failure is impossible. Nevertheless, for the benefit of those who wish to investigate philosophical theories and so secure a logical basis for faith, I will cite certain authorities.

The monistic theory of the universe—the theory that one substance appears to manifest itself as the many elements of the material world—is of Hindu origin and has been gradually winning its way into the thought of the Western world for two hundred years. It is the foundation of all the Oriental philosophies and has found a place in the thought of Descartes, Spinoza, Leibnitz, Schopenhauer, Hegel, and Emerson. The reader who would dig to the philosophical foundations is advised to read Hegel and Emerson for himself.

In writing this book I have used a plain style so that all might understand. The following plan of action has been thoroughly tested and bears the supreme test for any practical experiment: it works. If you wish to know how the conclusions were arrived at, read the writings of the authors mentioned above. If you wish to reap the fruits of their philosophies in actual practice, read this book and do exactly as it tells you to do.

THE RIGHT TO BE RICH

Whatever may be said in praise of poverty, the fact remains that it is not possible to live a really complete or successful life unless one is rich. No person can rise to his greatest possible height in talent or soul development unless he has plenty of money. In order to unfold the soul and to develop talent he must have many things to use, and he cannot have these things unless he has money to buy them with.

People develop in mind, soul, and body by making use of things, and society is so organized that people must have money in order to become the possessor of things. Therefore, the basis of all human advancement must be the science of getting rich.

The object of all life is development. Everything that lives has an inalienable right to all the development it is capable of attaining.

A person’s right to life means his right to have the free and unrestricted use of all the things which may be necessary to his fullest mental, spiritual, and physical unfolding—in other words, his right to be rich.

In this book, I shall not speak of riches in a figurative way. To be really rich does not mean to be satisfied or contented with a little. No person ought to be satisfied with a little if he is capable of using and enjoying more. The purpose of nature is the advancement and development of life. Every individual should have all that can contribute to the power, elegance, beauty, and richness of life.

The person who owns all he wants for the living of all the life he is capable of living is rich. Nobody can have all he wants without plenty of money. Life has advanced so far and become so complex that even the most ordinary man or woman requires a great amount of wealth in order to live in a manner that even approaches completeness. Every person naturally wants to become all that he is capable of becoming; this desire to realize innate possibilities is inherent in human nature. Success in life is becoming what you want to be. You can become what you want to be only by making use of things, and you can have the free use of things only as you become rich enough to buy them. Therefore, an understanding of the science of getting rich is the most essential of all knowledge.

There is nothing wrong in wanting to get rich. The desire for riches is really the desire for a richer, fuller, and more abundant life. And, that desire is praiseworthy. The person who does not desire to live more abundantly is uncommon. And the
