About this ebook
Peron&Evita: Love Letters.
The extraordinary story of Maria Eva Duarte de Perón, whose intense 33-year life became a universal myth.
The career of Maria Eva Duarte de Perón is one of the most extraordinary stories ever told.
This work, based on apocryphal correspondence, casts light on the subjective experience of the protagonists of one of the most intense love stories Argentina has ever known.
Evita's death is most likely due to her refusal to accept medical treatment of any kind. Her catchphrase was “Doctors are for people who have nothing to do, not for me. Treatment is for oligarchs, for those who don't work.
Can't you see that they want to invent illnesses in order to sabotage my administration?” exemplifies what the Greeks called “hubris” -the illness of power-, the essential ingredient for any tragedy.
Evita's 33-year life has become a universal myth. This dramatic work of fiction spans the following stages of Evita's incredible life:
Her birth as a natural daughter in the second family of a rancher in the Province of Buenos Aires.
Her trip to Buenos Aires at the age of fifteen and her lonely time in the big city.
Eking out an existence as a courtesan and theater and radio actress.
Birth and adoption of her daughter
Marriage to Colonel Perón.
The President's wife and first lady of the Nation.
Her trip to Europe.
Eva is transformed into Evita during her work with the Foundation.
Illness, operations, lies and death.
Embalmment of Evita's body.
Disappearance and return of the embalmed body.
Post mortem complaints about decisions made by the widower during his third administration.
Buy this book for an intimate glimpse into the lives of two giants from Argentine history!

EVITA&PERON
Love Letters
There are two identical tables and lamps on stage.
Lamplight is the only lighting on stage. It casts light on the characters and roles to be portrayed throughout the play. Enter Evita Perón and Juan Perón from either side of the stage, each carrying a folder. Juan Perón is wearing the white dress uniform of the Argentine Army. He's wearing a hat that he takes off as he walks on stage and then he puts it on one the tables. Evita is wearing a long evening gown and has a fancy hairdo, a jeweled necklace around her neck and bracelets on her arms. They greet the audience, open the folders, put them on one of the tables and then sit down to read.

Dear Juan,
I don't know how I brought myself to do it that day in Luna Park. I didn't think before acting; had I thought about it I wouldn't have moved a muscle. Roberto Galan told me that Farrel had another engagement to attend and that his seat would be left vacant. I suddenly saw it and ran for the seat without asking whether I should or not. It was an irrepressible urge. I was suddenly sitting beside you. You were looking at me in surprise and I started talking to you. The only thing real was me there talking with you and there was nothing anyone could do to take me away from there. There was nothing they could possibly do. And then we were talking as if we had known each other for a lifetime. One performance followed another and we participated in the audience's applause and enthusiasm... What a conversation! We never stopped or hesitated! That night when we accompanied Imbert and his lady friend to the restaurant I felt my chest swelling and the blood running in my body like never before. That day in Luna Park was the most wonderful day in my life. I now realize I was running toward my destiny.
JUAN PERON
Sweetheart,
You were pale when you first sat down next to me, but your face lit up as you spoke. Your slender hands and tapered fingers; you were a bundle of nerves. We spoke for a long time. It was a time when I was exploring the idea of creating a political movement to defend the interests of the people. Like Mussolini did in old Europe, but without repeating his defects. Only with his virtues. All my ideas came back to me with new vigor in your questions. I had found the perfect conversation partner to discuss my thoughts and ideas with. A beautiful woman who knew how to listen and understand.

My dear Juan,
I felt that I wanted to stay there forever. By your side, on your chest and in your arms. When you invited me to stay at your house in Tigre it was like touching Heaven. I became a huge pair of ears listening to you and you were the voice that spoke the whole time. We were joined together
