5 Ingredient Slow Cooker Meals - Jan Morgan

    Crisps

    INTRODUCTION

Time is money! There’s very little time! There’s so much to do! Many of us can relate with these phrases. We want to cook great meals quickly, enjoy them with family and friends then get back to other pressing matters. Takeaways and microwave dinners are convenient but they are no substitute for a home-cooked meal. Slow cookers (or crock pots) is one of the solutions to this problem. They require the minimum amount of effort. You only need to fill them up and turn them on. They are cheap to buy and economical to use. They offer a healthier, low-fat way of cooking and can be used by everyone− both beginning cooks and advanced cooks alike.

This book is a collection of great-tasting meals using just five ingredients or even less in your slow cooker. Water, cooking spray, salt and pepper are not counted as ingredients. The meals are delicious, satisfying and most importantly nutritious. All of the recipes were carefully picked in order to provide you with as many options as possible so that cooking can never be a boring experience for you.

    Understanding Your Slow Cooker

A slow cooker is a kitchen appliance that cooks food very slowly. The food is cooked via simmering at low temperatures, as opposed to other conventional methods which rely on higher temperatures. You can buy a slow cooker from many retailers at an affordable price. While they are very similar in terms of their basic use, they have varying levels of functionality. For example, some have browning functions which allows you to easily cook and brown certain food correctly in the slow cooker pot, as opposed to having to get an extra pan. Some also have timers which turn off the heat once the pre-programmed cooking time elapses. This helps to avoid overcooking or burning of food (although it’s generally difficult to burn food in a slow cooker).

Why You Will Love Using A Slow Cooker

Who wouldn’t love a kitchen device that offers tremendous cooking benefits?

    See below:

    a) Saves Time: A slow cooker normally cooks everything in one go. So there’s normally no need to constantly stir, and check on your food. You simply prepare the ingredients, throw them in the slow cooker, and let it do the rest. In many cases you can leave the slow cooker on in the morning, head to work, and come back home to a cooked meal.

    b) Saves Energy: A slow cooker requires very little electricity to operate. As such it will help you minimize the electricity bill, as opposed to using a conventional cooker, oven, or other appliance which requires a lot of energy to run. A slow cooker also normally uses less water than other methods of cooking.

    c) Rich Tasting Food: food cooked in a slow cooker simmers at low temperatures over long periods of time. This enables it to fully absorb spices, and lets the flavors blend. As a result, the food will be tasty and very rich in flavor.

    d) Reduced Chances Of Burning Food: since food cooks at very low temperatures in a slow cooker, the likelihood of burning it are very low. However, it should be noted that food can still be overcooked if it’s left for too long.

    e) Easy Clean Up: since everything is cooked in a single pot, there are fewer dishes to clean than if you’re cooking using other methods which require several pans and pots.

    All-in-one-pot convenience.

Meets multiple cooking needs - stewing, poaching, braising, roasting and baking.

    Hands-free all-day cooking.

Safe to leave plugged in all day.

Versatile for various kinds of foods.

Warm setting-helps keep food ready for sudden extended dinner times.

    Choosing Your Slow Cooker

Size:  Various sizes are available in the market. Your choice should depend on the recipe and number of people you will be cooking for.  Follow the recipes listed, they will let you know the
