About this ebook
Flynn is having a terrible day—his fiancée jilted him at the altar and now he’s alone on his honeymoon. Going to a wilderness resort by himself was probably not his best idea, but then artist Beau Green arrives to make everything even more complicated. A reservation mistake and stormy weather means the charismatic black man is out of options for the night, but Flynn can’t let someone sleep on a cold floor when there’s a perfectly good sofa in his cabin. When the power dies, Flynn ends up on the sofa, too, because there’s only one fireplace, and freezing is not part of his plan for the day.
Also not planned? Having sex with a dude, but Beau is everything his ex is not—kind, strong, and intelligent. Unfortunately, Flynn is straight, and falling for a man might be one disaster too many for him to handle.

Chapter One
The tall, black man who’d entered just before him stood at least six feet tall, and was built like a bouncer, but he wore the glasses of an artist. The dichotomy intrigued him, but Flynn Russell was too tired to puzzle out why, even as he watched the guy frown at the girl behind the desk. Flynn rubbed his face while he waited for his key, wishing he’d at least stopped to change his tux before showing up here like a homeless person. In his formal attire and winter coat, he looked as out of place at this rustic wilderness resort as the black guy arguing with the clerk. Mostly older couples came here, and sometimes families, but rarely did they arrive at the tail end of October, in the middle of an early winter storm.
Yet here I am, Flynn thought, wondering once again if he’d done the right thing in coming.
I’m so sorry, Mr. Green, but somehow the reservation system messed up your arrival date. You’re in the system for next year on this date,
the girl said, looking beyond flustered as the large man stared down at her.
Miss, it’s sleeting out there. And my ride is already gone. If you can’t find a place for me, I’m going to be camping out in your lobby here until the weather clears.
The man gestured around the small rustic space. The small dreads that topped off his perfectly shaped side-fade didn’t move as he spoke. His deep voice was surprisingly soft for a man of his size.
Cabin ninety-three is booked out to a newlywed couple, and the others have already been winterized, and have no running water or bedding,
the girl said, tapping a finger on the tablet in front of her. I don’t know what to do.
She glanced around as if a solution was going to jump out at her from the log walls.
Wait. Newlywed couple? Flynn’s gut twisted, and he grimaced. Given the location and the time of year, odds were, she was talking about him. And the wife I’m supposed to be here with. Fuck.
The large man sighed. You realize no plane will fly in this?
He glanced out of the large window near the door. And there’s no way I could even get a ride to the airport at this hour, especially since it’s a two-hour drive away.
Flynn set his bag down. He’d barely managed to get here himself, and he had an all-wheel drive crossover vehicle. He stepped forward. Let me guess. Cabin ninety-three is for Flynn and Darlene Russell, right?
The girl looked at him with a hint of panic in her gaze. Yes.
She took in his tuxedo and bit her lip. Oh no.
Oh yes.
Flynn nodded grimly, already reaching for his wallet. That would be me.
He held out his identification. He looked at the black guy, not surprised to find resignation in the man’s expression. This was a fucked-up situation, no doubt about it.
The girl took his driver’s license and glanced down at it, then handed it back. The cabin is all ready for you, Mr. Russell.
She attempted a smile, which faded as she realized there was no Mrs. Russell with him. Is your wife in your car?
Flynn ignored the shame twisting down his spine. It wasn’t his fault that Darlene had jilted him at the altar. I’m not actually married,
he said shortly, not wanting to get into the whole debacle. He could still see the dismay on his mother’s face as Darlene bolted out of the church. The entire, nasty disaster had played on repeat in his brain in full Technicolor over and over again during the entire drive up through New Hampshire. He hoped his mom and dad had made it back home to Pittsburgh. The only reason he’d agreed to get married in Boston was because Darlene’s parents lived there. He glanced at the poor dude in front of him and sighed. There was no reason to toss the guy out in the cold, especially when he knew his cabin had a sofa as well as a bed. You can stay with me.
He looked outside. At least until the storm lets up.
The man stepped back, looking over Flynn’s
