About this ebook

This book contains a variety of poems embracing many aspects of human experience. Typically, the poems touch on the poets sensitivity towards his God, the Christian God, the God of The Bible. They also attempt to capture some of his deeper feelings towards a variety of subjects common to us all. Subjects such as belief, faith or the lack of it, the appreciation of beauty in nature or creation, and the inward beauty which human beings sometimes reflect, are but a few such subjects the poet explores. These poems are the observations of a man who has tried to grasp the moment, so to speak, and to share it with you. The moment one believes, loves, forgives, dares to dream, is moved to laugh or cry ,is challenged or changed, has his or her eyes opened to see or feel something he or she had hitherto not seen, heard or even thought of before. In short, these are the impressions of a man who likes to play with words. Enjoy them.

Salt and Light - Chris Knight

    1. The ultimate authority.

High above the earth he stands…

The blue and green mosaic quilt of turf and surf

spread untidily thousands of feet beneath his

    nail-scarred, bare feet,

his robe, righteous white, flutters in the high

    altitude breeze

like thousands of seagulls flapping their wings,

overhead thunder peels, lightning screeches out

    across the smoldering sky,

His sinless eyes scan everything, blazing balls of

blue and white scrutinizing and soaking up everything

    in their path,

    the immortal one

    strolls the celestial skies,

with sunshine streaking from his eyes and shadowless

    footsteps,

    he stops to survey everything,

    with scales in his soul,

he stops to weigh the world,

    He is the ultimate authority,

    unequalled unrivalled, unsurpassable and

    eternal.

    2. You

    You are the one,

    who made everything

    from nothing,

    all that we see,

    mirrors your reflection,

You carpeted the earth with grass so green!

The ceiling too, you coated blue,

    The sun rises every morning,

    it warms our bodies,

and your rising son warms our hearts!

Your spirit of love, is there too!

Hovering gently over the waters of a clear lake,

blowing over me like a cooling breeze,

    giving me goosebumps

    soothing my soul.

    I inhale deeply,

a smile forms on my face as I close my eyes,

    I know why I am alive;

    To give you glory!

    Our spirits embrace,

    we hug and separate,

our hands still touching we smile and say bye!

I will follow you, that’s all I was created for.

    3. Standing

It was cold and dark, the midnight sky

    blacker than soot,

    He stood at my door,

the rain bucketing down in torrential gallons,

he stood with a lantern, florescent white

in his left hand, with his right hand raised,

I heard his harmonious knock on my door,

rap, rap, rap went his knuckles,

like exploding gun shots into my heart!

Outside the wind rustled through the trees,

    singing it’s own tormented song

I peered out into the frightened night,

I looked closely, a shepherd’s crook on his
