      Introduction

      Hang out in the book section of any Goodwill or thrift store long enough and you’ll see people scanning the barcodes of several books with their cell phones and then tossing some of those books into carts full of novels, textbooks, and popular nonfiction.

      Who are these people and what are they doing? They’re book scouts – and they’re making money using one of the most popular ways of earning cash through the Internet.

      These people scan books to see how much the books are selling online. If they find a profitable book, they buy it and then re-sell it for a much higher price through a popular online marketplace – usually Amazon.com or eBay.

      Many of these books earn part-time booksellers hundreds of dollars every month – while full-time book scouts can make several thousand dollars a month!

      Sounds good, right? A lot of people think so, which is why this business is attracting everyone – from college students to retirees to working mothers – who are all making extra money by selling books online. Thanks to modern technology, it’s now easier than ever to spot profitable books and sell them online.

      Unfortunately, the competition book scouts receive can be intimidating. Just go to any major book sale and you’ll find book scouts camped outside the building so they can snatch up the most valuable books. It’s hard to fill a cart when you’re up against fifty or more experienced book scouts who can scan and select books much faster than you.

      Even if you look for books in less hectic places (like thrift stores), other book scouts may have already come and bought most of the good books. You can still find valuable books – but they’ll disappear much faster than they did ten or twenty years ago.

      Then there’s the problem of storage – most online booksellers need to collect over a thousand books before they start making regular sales on Amazon or eBay. For someone with an empty garage or warehouse this might not be a big deal – but for a college student selling books out of his dorm room or a husband with a wife who despises clutter, this can be a major issue.

      And finally, if you load your inventory with books that have a very small profit margin (the ones that only earn you a $2 or $3 net profit on Amazon) you could be stuck with hundreds – or thousands – of worthless books if they depreciate as demand cools.

      So, with all this in mind, is there a way for a new book scout to walk into a thrift store, buy a lot of books, and sell them quickly enough to generate regular profits?

      Yes!

      Yes, there is a way for you to walk into almost any thrift store or library sale and walk away with books you can sell immediately (as in the same day!) for a profit.

      Yes, you can sell hundreds of books every month without having to worry about cluttering up your house, apartment, or dorm room with so many books that you have to swim across a sea of literature just to reach your bed.

      And yes, it is possible to make an extra $1000 a month (and often more) by using the methods I describe here – all without having to sell a single book on Amazon or eBay.

      Simply by changing the way you look at the books available to you – and the ways you can liquidate and profit off of them – you’ll find there are more ways to create a successful online book dealing business than you may have originally thought.
