Yahweh’s Temple in Ezekiel
"4 And the man said unto me, Son of man, behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears, and set thine heart upon all that I shall shew thee; for to the intent that I might shew them unto thee art thou brought hither: declare all that thou seest to the house of Israel.
5 And behold a wall on the outside of the house round about, and in the man’s hand a measuring reed of six cubits long by the cubit and an hand breadth: so he measured the breadth of the building, one reed; and the height, one reed."
Ezekiel 40:4-5
Introduction
God created a design for a future Temple and sent His angel to reveal it to the prophet Ezekiel. The angel brought Ezekiel to the temple to reveal its design to him. The angel was armed with measuring instruments for measuring the temple. It is the angel who did the measuring of the temple in the book of Ezekiel.
This book is a fascinating look at how God has organized and numbered the Holy temple at the end of time. This book explores the Bible numbers and numbering methods He employed in His design of the Eternal Temple.
When the angel prepared to show Ezekiel the temple, He told him that is was being revealed to him so that He would reveal it to Israel. God wants His people to know about the blessed Eternal Temple that He will setup in the Eternal Kingdom for the saints. He wants them to know and behold the glory of His magnificent design and the glory of His numbering.
Chapter 1 Prophecies of the Eternal Temple
Yahweh’s Temple in Heaven
In Heaven, Yahweh’s Temple is the seat of power. Yahweh is one and rules from His temple in the Heaven of heavens. It is from His temple in Heaven that He determines:
What will be
When it will be
How long it will be
In Isaiah 66:1, God said:
Thus saith the LORD, The Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?
In Revelation 4:1-3, the Bible described the Throne of God in Heaven and His majesty:
"1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in Heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.
2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in Heaven, and one sat on the throne.
3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald."
The temples that God established on the earth are symbolic of the Temple in Heaven. The temples that God has called for are His headquarters on earth. Because of this, God is very particular about the dimensions of the temples that He established in Israel. For example, when He commissioned the building of His temples, He supplied the people with the designs and the numbers for the buildings. God supplied the specifications for His temples so that they will be acceptable unto Him.
Tabernacle Example
For example, in Exodus 26:30, God gave Moses instructions for building the items for the Tabernacle tent and the items that were to go inside of it. God also showed Moses a plan for the Tabernacle that He saw while He was on Mount Sinai. In the Bible God told Moses:
30 And thou shalt rear up the tabernacle according to the fashion thereof which was shewed thee in the mount.
In Hebrews 8:5, apostle Paul made reference to the fact that God showed Moses a model of the Tabernacle and all of its sacred items:
5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of Heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.
God did the same thing when King David sought to build Him a temple in Jerusalem.
Solomon’s Temple
King David expressed his desire to God to build a temple to Yahweh in Jerusalem. God honored David’s desire and showed King David a plan for a temple. However, God told David that the temple would be built by his son Solomon. In 1Chronicles 28:10-19: King David instructed his son Solomon about building the Temple.
"10 Take heed now; for the LORD hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.
11 Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch, and of the houses thereof, and of the treasuries thereof, and of the upper chambers thereof, and of the inner parlours thereof, and of the place of the mercy seat,
12 And the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of the LORD, and of all the chambers round about, of the treasuries of the house of God, and of the treasuries of the dedicated things:
19 All this, said David, the LORD made me understand in writing by his hand upon me, even all the works of this pattern."
As verse 19 notes, the plan for the building of the temple in Jerusalem came from God. Solomon built the temple in Jerusalem and it stood for over 400 years. The Bible notes that this temple was destroyed hundreds of years later by the Babylonians. Later, God spoke to Israel about rebuilding the temple after the fashion of Solomon’s temple. God inspired the governor of Judea who was named Zerubbabel to build another temple.
Zerubbabel’s Temple
After Israel spent 70 years in Babylon, God blessed a portion of the people to return to Israel. Many of those that returned wanted to rebuild the temple that had been destroyed. There was also a lot of opposition from certain parties that did not want a temple to be built in Jerusalem again. In time, God spoke through various prophets about rebuilding His temple. In the book of Haggai 1:1-8, the Bible notes:
"1 In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,
2 Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD’s house should be built.
3 Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,
4 Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your ceiled houses, and this house lie waste?
5 Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.
7 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
8 Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD."
Just as God called for the building of His temple at that time, God will call for a building of a new temple near the end of time. At the end of time, God will build an Eternal Temple in the Eternal Kingdom that He will establish. In this book, you will discover that He uses His One concept to establish:
One Holy Place in
One Land to worship
One God in
One Eternal Temple on earth for all nations.
Prophecies about the Eternal Temple
For thousands of years, God has been giving various prophets visions about an Eternal Temple that He will establish in the third era near the end of time. God has been giving these prophets visions about a future temple while the temples of their day were still standing and in use.
Isaiah’s Vision of the Eternal Temple
For example, in Isaiah 2:1-4, God gave the prophet Isaiah a vision of a new Temple that He will establish at the end of time.
"1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more."
This was a prophecy that God gave to the prophet Isaiah during the time of Solomon’s temple. Solomon’s temple was still standing and in use. The prophecy that God gave to Isaiah is about an end time temple that He will establish in the third era in the last days. The Scripture states that God will establish the end time temple in the top of the mountains. God also revealed to the prophet that this will be an international temple that will interact with the nations of the world.
Zechariah’s Vision of the Eternal Temple
Yahweh also gave prophecies about His end time temple to the prophet Zechariah. For example, in Zechariah 6:12-15, the Scripture speaks of the Messiah who will build an end time temple:
"12 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:
13 Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.
14 And the crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of the LORD.
15 And they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the LORD, and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you. And this shall come to pass, if ye will diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God."
The Branch
in this scripture is a reference to Christ. There has never been a temple built in Israel that had a throne in it. In the Bible prophecy, Christ is the only one who is described as a Priest that sits upon His Throne. This prophecy also predicts that this temple will have an international appeal bringing in people from foreign lands. Even more important is the fact that the scripture states that God will build this temple.
God gave this prophecy to the prophet Zechariah about a temple to serve the nations during the days of Zerubbabel’s temple. However, this prophecy was not about Zerubbabel’s temple. This prophecy about a future Eternal Temple is a prophecy that will be fulfilled in the third era. This is an era which will be an Eternal Era when an Eternal Kingdom will be established. The Eternal Temple is the temple that God revealed to the prophet Ezekiel.
Micah’s Vision of the Eternal Temple
God gave the prophet Micah a vision of His new temple at the end of time. For example, in Micah 4:1-3, the Bible talks about a temple that God will establish in the mountains in the last days.
"1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.
2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more."
God’s end time Eternal Temple will be established in the mountains. It will be
