    DEDICATION

This book is dedicated to my mother and father, who were both at my side in the hospital as soon as they could get there. I’m from New Jersey, but in August of 2018, I was living in Winter Park, Florida. Late one night, while walking with my ex-girlfriend, we were both hit by a car going over 50mph. I tried my best to save her. I ran and pushed her aside to take the hit meant for her. They say we survived because of that.

When I woke, there were EMTs tending to me. They chose to put me in the ambulance first and take me, because I was in much worse shape. I stayed awake the best I could during the trip to the emergency room, providing whoever with whatever information I remembered. I was waiting to get my mother’s phone number to someone. I knew that as soon as I got that number to someone, I could relax.

She’ll be here, I thought to myself, once I got the number
