    Introduction

This book has comprehensive beginner-friendly information about bitcoin investing, mining and cryptocurrency technologies.

Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are taking over the world by storm. Think about it; bitcoin started less 10 years ago and today, it is perhaps the world’s most valuable currency (even if not widely accepted) with one bitcoin selling at over $10 000! Very few things can record such a massive price increase within such a short period. And the good thing about bitcoins is that you don’t have to do anything once you have them; all you should do is to sit back and wait for prices to rise! You could even make money verifying and validating transactions in what’s referred to as mining.

Would you like to just sit back and watch your money multiply? Then investing and trading in cryptocurrencies might be all you need if we were to look at 2017 as an example. Bitcoin is one of these cryptocurrencies that you can use to grow and diversify your investment portfolio, as it is increasingly becoming a powerful form of currency due to its reliance on the immutable decentralized technology as well as its revolutionary ingenuity to operate without middlemen or any other central authority.

This guide is meant to help you understand the basics of investing in bitcoin, so that you can learn how to benefit from its unique features while carefully guarding yourself against any forthcoming online risks. In the end, you’ll gather enough confidence and start taking advantage of this entirely new market while being conscious of its future. Hopefully, bitcoin’s nature and relentless increasing value will fascinate you more and inspire you to make more money. However, always remember that hard work pays; a bit of toil will see you reap more.

Understanding Cryptocurrency: An Introduction To Cryptocurrency & The Simplest Explanation Of Bitcoin And Cryptocurrency That You Will Ever Read

    An Introduction To Cryptocurrency

The one thing that most cryptocurrency investors do wrong is they go straight to the investment part, whether they are reading up on the subject or actually doing the investment itself, without making sure they have enough base information to help them on their journey. This chapter is here so that you do not make the same mistake.

    What Is Cryptocurrency?

Simply put, a cryptocurrency is a token in digital form that is designed to work as an exchange medium or as a method of record keeping. It uses cryptographic algorithms to secure as well as verify the transactions across its network and to have in control, the creations of new tokens.

Bitcoin is a form of cryptocurrency i.e. a form of decentralized digital currency (under the category of cryptocurrencies) that is created and held electronically. Unlike other currencies, which are issued by the government, bitcoin works without any central repository or a single administrator. Instead, it operates on a cryptography technology to secure various transactions as well as control the creation of additional units and verify the transfer of various assets.

How Does Bitcoin, And By Extension, Most Cryptocurrencies Work?

Bitcoin employs peer-to-peer transactions where there is no financial institution or middleman involved. The records of each transaction are verified cryptographically by other nodes on the network. What follows is that those transactions are combined into a block and added to the cryptocurrency’s ledger. This is otherwise known as the blockchain.

The blockchain will hold details of every single transaction on the network, and as this blockchain is simultaneously held on several nodes throughout the blockchain network, it is impossible to change, censor, hack or disrupt it in any way. The nodes on the network, referred to as miners, will collect a small fee from each transaction. This fee works as an incentive for having the network available online.

    The Follow-The-Leader Effect Of Bitcoin:

The release of Bitcoin in 2009 opened the door for hundreds of new cryptocurrencies to be created and introduced into the market. They all tend to serve their own individual purpose. After Bitcoin, Ethereum is the most successful platform.
