Sometimes in life we are presented with unexpected windows of opportunity that are just too hard to pass up. For Lizzie and Michael Taylor, that ‘window’ was in their living room. “We weren’t actively looking to move,” says Lizzie. “We had a plan that was two-to-five years away, but the opportunity came earlier than expected.”

The couple had seen the three-bedroom 1950s house listed in their local paper in 2014 and were instantly drawn to its outlook – with views across Manly’s Shelly Beach –
