INSTITUTION AS AN ECOLOGICAL PLATFORM
“Today, cultural audiences are assertive and highly motivated neighbors, not just passive visitors to be educated by institutional experts. They are more interested in social interaction, participation and self-discovery than traditional learning. It’s time for museums to transfer ownership to the audience. Museums should open their doors 24-hours a day to become a more active cultural community and build a spirit of platform-driven institutional ecology as a response to this change.”
