About this ebook

One of Oprah.com's "Best Romance Novels of 2019"!

"If you’re still obsessing over A Star Is Born (because, same) you’ll love this new romance novel by Erin Hahn." - Cosmopolitan

Annie Mathers is America’s sweetheart and heir to a country music legacy full of all the things her Gran warned her about. Superstar Clay Coolidge is most definitely going to end up one of those things.

But unfortunately for Clay, if he can’t convince Annie to join his summer tour, his music label is going to drop him. That’s what happens when your bad boy image turns into bad boy reality. Annie has been avoiding the spotlight after her parents’ tragic death, except on her skyrocketing YouTube channel. Clay’s label wants to land Annie, and Clay has to make it happen.

Swayed by Clay’s undeniable charm and good looks, Annie and her band agree to join the tour. From the start fans want them to be more than just tour mates, and Annie and Clay can’t help but wonder if the fans are right. But if there’s one part of fame Annie wants nothing to do with, it’s a high-profile relationship. She had a front row seat to her parents’ volatile marriage and isn’t interested in repeating history. If only she could convince her heart that Clay, with his painful past and head over heels inducing tenor, isn’t worth the risk.

Erin Hahn’s thrilling debut, You’d Be Mine, asks: can the right song and the perfect summer on the road make two broken hearts whole?

"Witty and charming, with an off-the-charts, irresistible blend of romance, humor, and characters who steal your heart from page one. Erin Hahn is an author to watch." - Karen M. McManus, New York Times bestselling author of One of Us Is Lying

This was a wonderful romance! I went into this book without a whole lot of expectations. I picked this book up largely because it sounded somewhat original. I don't remember ever seeing another book about a pair of young adult country music stars so I decided to give it a chance. That risk worked out pretty well. This was one of those books that sucked you in and didn't let go. I just had a great time with this book.Annie is the daughter of country music superstars. Her parents are gone so her grandparents are her closest family. She is leary of walking in her famous parent's footsteps but she has a gift. When Clay knocks on her door to recruit her for the opening act on his tour, she decides to go along with the rest of the trio, which includes her cousin and close friend.Clay is headlining the tour and has been on the music scene just a little longer. Even though he is underage, he has spent a lot of time on the road drinking or hanging out with girls. He has some things in his past that he is also trying to deal with and he isn't always dealing with them all that well.I loved Annie and Clay together. From the very start, I thought that the scenes between them were the times when they were completely real. Clay wasn't always such a nice guy when other people were around but Annie seemed to bring out the best in him. I loved their chemistry both on the stage and off. I really thought that these two were good for each other and it was a ton of fun watching them find their way.I would recommend this book to others. It was a very well done story about two people working to get over their pasts while they fell for each other. I look forward to reading more from this new author.I received a digital review copy of this book from St. Martin's Press - Wednesday Books via NetGalley.

I guess if you are young adult girl this is a perfect book. Two teen newly minted country western stars (a boy and a girl) go out on tour together. There is teen angst, unresolved family issues, bad behavior, star crossed love and it is all wrapped up in the way you would expect. The novel moves relentlessly to the finale that you never doubted ultimately happen. For its audience the novel it is gold.

Reading this was well timed after watching Ken Burns County Music documentary. Sweet romance with lots of broken hero issues. Some unhealthy behavior followed by a reckoning and recovery. Will buy for my high school library.

Sweet, swoony, and utterly soulful. I fell in love with Annie and Clay's separate journeys immediately and held my breath waiting for those journeys to intertwine. A must-read for music fans (country or otherwise) and anyone looking for smart, nuanced stories of family relationships.

Clay Coolidge is a country star, best new artist last year but already known as a bad boy and a bad risk for his label. They decide to give him another chance by adding Annie Mathers to his tour. Her group is a young trio, but Annie is well-known, the child of two country legends who died in a double suicide after a tumultuous life together. Both Clay and Annie are super-talented, but each has their own devils to deal with. The book is sort of like a sad country song, or a bunch of them strung together. Clay is mean to Annie, she tries to save him, and so on. It's well-written but by no means a light-hearted romance. They both have deep issues; Clay is a real mess with women, drugs, and booze while Annie never really dealt with her parents and their likewise disaster of a life though she was rescued by her grandparents and has a pretty level head for a teenager. There's a lot of references to June and Johnny Cash, and the romance between Clay and Annie does seem to follow the country legends somewhat. I found it more of a morality story of what fame and fortune can do to a young person not ready for it.

You'd Be Mine by Erin Hahn is a truly captivating young adult novel which stars two country music singers while on tour.

Clay Coolidge is the superstar sensation of his record label but he is in danger of being dropped after a drunken brawl.  The only way to salvage his career is to persuade rising internet star Annie Mathers to join him for his summer tour. The two musicians are a study in contrasts with Clay singing the popular beer swilling country anthems while Annie writes her own songs drawn on her real life experiences.   While their record label tries to publicly brand them as a modern day Johnny and June, Annie and Clay initially barely tolerate one another. But will a summer spent in close quarters change work its magic on the darlings of country music?

Clay is a charismatic singer whose life mirrors his songs. He is drinking too much but everyone  loves his party songs and his bad boy image is a hit with his female  fans. Clay is trying to outrun his past but will he lose his career in the process?

Annie is no stranger to the world of country music since both her parents were megastars.  Since their heartrending  deaths, she has lived a quiet life on her grandparents' farm.  But music is in her soul and Annie, her cousin Kacey and friend Jason have been playing together on the local scene. With firsthand experience with the darker side of the country music scene, Annie is reluctantly drawn into the life that destroyed her family.

Although Annie and Clay respect one another's talent, they keep their distance from one another as they begin the tour. Annie is wary of Clay's reputation so she tries to keep out of his way. Due to his troubles,  Clay does not want to do anything to harm Annie's reputation.  They both soon realize they are kindred spirits and their camaraderie on stage  soon spills over into real life. But as Annie's star is rising, Clay's demons begin to spin out of control. After experiencing so much heartache when she was younger, how will Annie react to Clay's downward spiral?

You'd Be Mine  is a compelling young adult novel with flawed yet endearing characters.  Clay and Annie are vibrantly developed with realistic problems to overcome. Their relationship is messy, sometimes poignant and ultimately heartwarming. A well-written debut by Erin Hahn that music lovers are sure to love. Highly recommend to older teen and adult readers.
