About this ebook
Many believers are hindered in their spiritual life due to a feeling of unworthiness and a nagging sense that they just don't measure up to what God expects of them. God the Father feels distant and unhappy with their shortcomings. "The Righteous Believer" is a Scripture-based explanation of the right-standing with God the Father that every believer in Jesus Christ enters into upon being born again. The reader will come to an understanding that their righteousness is not based on their performance or works but has already been provided for us through Jesus' finished work on the cross.
Brian A. Matthys

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I like this book because it made it very clear, by using plenty of scripture references, that I am made whole and righteous because of what Jesus has already done for me. It is a short and easy, but thorough read. I like books on this topic and I would recommend this one!

What a person believes about themselves and who they are at their core, is a huge determining factor for the kind of life they will lead. A person who believes they are a failure or unlovable will lead a very different life than a person who believes that they can conquer any challenge they face or a person who believes that people like them and enjoy being around them.
Not only is this true for our natural lives, but also it is true for our spiritual lives. Many Christians have as a core belief that they are an unworthy sinner and are viewed by God as a sinner. If they do think that God sees them in a positive manner, they think it is related to their good works and their behavior which, of course, is never perfect and can change quickly.
With this view of ourselves, we remain defeated, discouraged, and feeling like we can never measure up or be good enough to deserve the love of God, His favor, or His blessing in our lives. However, a Christian who understands who they are at their core (in their spirit) has the correct belief about themselves that will set them on the correct course to live the victorious, destiny-fulfilling life that God has planned for all believers. At the center of what we believe about ourselves is our righteousness.
What is righteousness?
2 Corinthians 5:21: For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Believers in Jesus Christ have become the righteousness of God. But what exactly does that mean for us spiritually and practically?
First, we need to understand what righteousness is. The word righteousness
originates from the old English word rihtwīs,
which comes from two words, riht
meaning right
and wīs
meaning manner, state, condition.
It is the state or condition of being right spiritually and, therefore, right with God. It is more than being good or being right. Righteousness is the state or condition of being right. It is the nature of a person rather than what they may do.
A good layman’s definition of righteous or righteousness is to be in right standing with God
or to be right in God’s eyes.
It is a state of being where a person is free of any sin or imperfection in their spirit. Righteousness is closely related to justification.
