DEDICATION
To the good citizens of the United States of America, my home and the land that I love, I dedicate this and hope that it may help to strengthen us all.
Introduction
While I have faith in this great country and its people, I do see cracks in more than the Liberty Bell. The political cacophony that spills out of not only Washington but every town and city in America cannot continue. The insidious corruption and self-serving egos of those who have found their way into power in this country appear to be more concerned about themselves and getting elected than they are about compromising and working toward what is best for Americans as a whole, not just their interest groups.
I recognize that many Americans hold the words of the Constitution as sacred. I believe that the words themselves are just that, words. The ideals are sacred. Therefore, one of the goals of this book is to offer a new Constitution, one which attempts to enumerate the rights and responsibilities of the people and the government in more modern terms. The old English verbiage is gone, replaced by simpler language that offers a clearer picture of what we expect from our citizens, their representatives, and government as an institution. There is a tendency for institutions to become stagnant, more concerned with perpetuating themselves rather than serving those to whom they owe their best efforts.
I also recognize that there is never going to be a perfect government or perfect citizens. We will always disagree on some issues, but we must be able to openly discuss those differences in a civil and constructive manner. That seems to be missing at present. If we can find a way to eliminate the influence of money and fame and power from decisions, many of the challenges which we face now and
