Target Group
Those involved in splicing of wire ropes (Mining, Engineering, Cranes etc.).

Aim
The aim of the course is to provide selected delegates with a thorough grounding of the legal requirements and safe working practices pertaining to the splicing of wire ropes. By the end of the course, they will be able to carry out the splicing skill involved safely, successfully and in accordance with accepted standards and codes of practice.

By the end of the course delegates will be able to: Recognise various splicing applications, Select the tools and equipment required, Carry out preparation successfully, Make suitable measurements, Carry out splicing using approved methods and procedures.

Legal Requirements A reference to all the legal documents underlining relevant responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act, Factories Act, Relevant regulations, European Directives, Recognised codes of practice, statutory certificates and reporting procedures. Splice Applications. An explanation of various relevant splice applications. Principles for the Selection of Tools & Equipment. Factors influencing choice, and assessing the operation. Preparation & Measurements. Explanations, Demonstrations, Imitations and practice. Splicing Methods & Procedures. Explanations, Demonstrations, Imitations and practice with ongoing assessment.

Achievement Measurement
This is a three-day course, focusing on customers specific requirements. Trainers employ the practical methods of instruction, explanation, demonstration, imitation and practice with ongoing assessment leading to certification on successful completion.
