Peratus isirumah yang terdedah kepada sesuatu iklan.

Rating = jumlah isi rumah menonton program Jumlah isi rumah malaysia

Satu point rating mewakili satu peratus isi rumah yang menonton sesuatu program tv.

Contoh:
Satu point rating = 1,067,000 isi rumah. Kalau Cinta Kirana mempunyai rating 12 peratus bermakna jangkauan Cinta Kirana (12x1,067,000) anggaran = 12 peratus.

Audimeter (audience meter)

Hooked up to the tv set to continuosly measure the channels to which the set was tuned. The metered households were supported by a separate panel of households that recorded viewing information in diaries.

People meter An electronic measuring device that incorporates the technology of the audimeter. A small black box with eight buttons (six for the family two for visitors) that can be placed on top of the tv set. Each family member is assigned with a button that indicates his/ her presence during viewing.

Portable people meter

The size of a pager. Able to detect inaudible code embedded in the audio signalof a tv program, radio or internet streaming audio. The user will have to send the ppm to a bay station that will send the central database.

Survey Survey research companies will conduct a survey on a selected sample that can represent the population to answer questionnaires related to tv viewing.

Phone interview. A research company will telephone respondents from the sampling frame to answer questions regarding their viewing activities.

Ratings are important to the stations as this reflect on the estimated viewers which will allow stations to estimate its performance
