INTRODUCTION

The Polished Stone Value of aggregate is measured using a standardised test (BS EN 13043: Aggregates for bituminous mixtures and surface treatments). This gives a measure of the resistance of the aggregate to the polishing action of vehicle tyres under conditions similar to those occurring on a road surface. The PSV of an aggregate is a measure of the resistance of an aggregate to polishing. The value is established by subjecting the aggregate to a standard polishing process, and then testing the aggregate with the Portable Skid Resistance Tester to determine its PSV.The property that an aggregate possesses which gives it a good PSV is often referred to as its' MICRO-TEXTURE. Aggregates that retain a significant microtexture after polishing are the aggregates that give good resistance to skidding, i.e. have a high Polished Stone Value.

PROCEDURE
1. As the preparation of specimens and the polishing process (using accelerated polishing machine takes many hours, this will have been done, in accordance with BS 812, in advance of the laboratory session. 2. The specimen is clamped into the holder in such a way that the slider of the pendulum traverses it in the same direction as it has been trafficked in the polishing machine. The height of the suspension axis of the pendulum is then adjusted, as described for the road test, so that the slider traverses a length of 76 0.5 mm. 3. The specimen and the slider are then thoroughly wetted and five readings (F scale unit x 100) are taken as described for the road test. The specimen and slider are thoroughly wetted before each reading. The mean of the last three readings is then recorded. 4. The mean value as determined is reported as the PSV

ANALYSIS DATA

The property that an aggregate possesses which gives it a good polish stone value (PSV) is often referred to as its' MICRO-TEXTURE. Aggregate that has a PSV over 50 is regarded as a High Skid Resistant Aggregate, but aggregate with a PSV over 65 is needed for particularly high stressed sites It have a high Polished Stone Value In the result, aggregate in the sample has high skid resistant aggregate. It has 50.9.

CONCLUSION
Theoretically, the pavement grip factor is a coefficient, which considers all determining parameters and influences and is the most frequently applied measuring methods to determine the pavement grip of the roadway surface. Supposedly the pavement grip is defined by one coefficient, which considers all determining parameters and influences. The pendulum with the rubber slider glides over the topside of the specimen. The rubber slider is fastened to a springy supporting device. At the first contact between the rubber slider and the topside of the specimen there is an important pressure force (i.e., higher temperature difference according to the Equation 1) in the contact area. Thereafter, the rubber slider nearly lifts-off (avoidance of the pressure force and/or the temperature difference) and is then again slightly pressed-in, and so on..

the contact area. The combination of the SRT with the IR-thermography method may represent a new method of investigation of the pavement grip factor offering the visualisation of surface irregularities as in rough surfaces the contact happens only at the asperities.
