What is Land Use Planning?

Land use planning is the step-by-step assessment of land and water, alternatives for land use, and economic and social conditions in order to choose and use the best solutions. The goal of land use planning is to use the land in a way that will benefit people, and save resources for the future

When is Land Use Planning Useful?

When the people accept the changes to the land When there is the political or social ability to turn the plan into an action

Goals of Land Use Planning

Efficiency

getting the most benefits with the least cost out of the land

Equity

and Acceptability land benefits must be shared equally, and must be accepted by the people land use will help fill the needs of today but also save resources for future generations

Planning is for people peoples needs are what lead the planning process Land is not the same everywhere know the land to make the best development Technology what are the best types of technologies to use for the land? Integration what are all the different ways to use the land?

Who are the People Who Should Participate in the Planning?

Land

Users - people who live and depend on the land for food, shelter, and work Decision-Makers - people who are responsible for starting the plan The Planning Team - a special group of people who have good knowledge about different parts of land use, like building, economics, farming, etc.

So, what are some ways we can plan how to use the land in community development?
1. Talk to the people in the community 2. Walk the area and study what is on it 3. Draw a map so we can analyze what is there
