Mr. Js Classroom Newsletter

Welcome to my class. My name is Brett Jankouskas, so you can just call me Mr. J. 3rd grade is an important year for all students. We will be working through the Pennsylvania standards. This year will be full of rewards for good behavior as well as great performances on assignments. The standards we will be working with are R3.A.1.1.1- R3.B.3.3.4. We will start the year off with words that have different meanings based on the context of the text. We will then go into identifying overall themes of a text, identifying the genre of a text, and spelling and grammer.

Math
Math is going to be really fun this year. I plan on having lots of fun edible activities that will help the students learn what they need. The standards we are using here are M3.A.1.1.1- M3.E.4. We will learn about whole numbers and fractions, operations, length, area, volume, weight, and learn the concepts of equality. This is going to be somewhat challenging for the students, especially grasping the concept of fractions or non-whole number, but by the end of the year they will all be fluent.

This year we will learn a little biology with the functions and composition of organisms, as well as physical science with the learning about Earths land formations and even volcanos. We will learn what tools are used to do scientific experiments and we will even get a chance to use them in our own experiment.

History
For History we are going to learn about Pennsylvania; Specifically Pennsylvanias origin all the way up to today and its natural resources. We will end the year learning about different cultures, races, ethnicities. The standards are as follows; 8.1.3.A- 8.4.3.D. We will make history fun with group activities and prizes to be won.
