(40 point homework grade) Ms. Guiles Due: _____________________________ Write a 4 Paragraph critique of the artwork on your postcard in class using your pre-writing notes. Paragraph 1: Introduce the general information about the artwork (Title, Artist, Media, Country, Date). Describe the work of art; use the Elements of Art that you see and the actual items in the work of art. Be detailed and specific; try to convey what is in the work of art as though the reader could not see it. Paragraph 2: Analyze the work of art. Pick 2-3 Principles of Design that you see in the work of art and explain where you see them. Be detailed and specific. Paragraph 3: Interpret the work of art. Discuss what you think the meaning, mood and/or story is in the work of art. Explain your conclusion using specific evidence from the work of art. You may research the piece online for this paragraph, but DO NOT COPY AND PASTE information from the internet. Use your own words. Paragraph 4: Judge the work of art. Do you think it was successful? Explain using evidence from the art. Remember to talk about the technical AND conceptual success (or lack of) in the piece. Be professional in your word choices. Cite specific examples from the artwork to support each part of your critique. Use correct paragraph form, spelling, and grammar. (each paragraph should be 6-8 sentences long) NO LISTS!
