Title: TBA Genre/ Tone: My short is of the Social Realism genre with a constant uncomfortable tone throughout. Setting (Time & Place) The short is set in the protagonist, Dales, house in the evening of his 16th birthday. Main Character My main character is a homosexual teenage boy called Dale. Want/ Need/ Obligation Dale wants to come out as a homosexual but at first he needs to be accepted for who he is by his friends, or for them to settle with the fact that some people are homosexual. His obligation throughout this is to protect himself and his boyfriend from hate while coming out as a homosexual. Opposition The opposition to the main characters want, need and obligation are his homophobic friends. Catalyst For Change A catalyst for change is apparent when Dale hits the moment of realisation when a girl, Steph, shouts at the homophobic bully and shows that not everyone is a homophobe. Climax The climax of the short is when the homophobic bully picks a fight with Dales boyfriend, Joe Bailey. Resolution The resolution is when the protagonist stands up and decides to forget about what people will think and stop hiding from who he wants to be. The Audience Feels... (Theme) There is a mix between the audience feeling sympathy and possibly empathy. As the topic is quite a wide-reaching one, nearly anyone can relate to it, whether it be because theyre homosexual, whether theyve been bullied or even both.
