Seminar 1 Hand-in Test (60 points total):

For the Test this week you will submit solutions for the following problems:
Section 1-4: Page 31-32, problems 2, 6, 14, 16, 20 :

51-56 14
57-62 8
63-68 3
They are very similar in structure and idea. But the precipitation chart is one sided, where as the
0-.49 had most of the days. Both the width and midpoints are different.

Looking at the shape of the histogram it is close enough to a bell shape that I would consider it
“normal”

Section 3-2: Page 88, problem 14

The total of all ages are 213 eastbound, 295 west bound, dividing both of these by the number
of variables (10) gives us 21.3 and 29.5 respectfully. Thus our means are found.
The median (which is the “middle value”) was determined be finding the center values of this
group of ten in numerical order giving us 20 and 24-26 respectfully.
Based on both means and median it seems that the west bound stowaways are older.

the variation of the east bound is 34-15 a difference of 19 years. While the variation of west
bound is 45-21 a difference of 24 years.

As you can see comparing the 2 they look quit alike, the numbers follow a close pattern but if you
consider the means then it shows that the regular fared far worse for yield.
