Geometry Map Project

Your task is to design a map that includes several different kinds of lines, angles and triangles. Your map can be of a town, your neighborhood or a made up place. I encourage you to be as creative as possible, however your map must include all of the following: - Two sets of streets that are parallel - Two sets of streets that are perpendicular - One street that intersects another streets to form an obtuse angle - One street intersects another to form an acute angle - One street that is a line segment - One street that is a line - One street that is a ray - An ice cream parlor in the shape of an equilateral triangle - A Pool that is in the shape of a scalene triangle (yes I know, a triangular pool. Its crazy.) - A Pizza Place in the shape of an Isosceles triangle - The scale of your map will be 10 feet for every inch of paper, so label accordingly (in feet). You will be responsible for accurately labeling the measurements of every segment (in feet) and angle that are formed by the intersecting streets that you have created. You will also be responsible for labeling the side and angle measurements of your buildings and structures (yes, I will use a ruler and a compass to measure your accuracy). Once your map is completed you are to write out five directions from one place to another. Each direction must have all of these terms: parallel, intersecting, and perpendicular. The directions do not have to be the shortest route from one place to the other as long as they include the three terms. These directions should be able to get your teacher and classmates from one place to another without getting lost! Important: Be sure to name your streets and buildings in order to make a complete list of their measurements on the back of the poster board. Materials: Poster board, colored pencils, ruler, compass. Have fun!
