AACOG Board Member and Senator Leticia Van de Putte to be recognized at Texas Leadership Forum

During the 28th Annual Texas Leadership Forum, the Honorable Leticia Van de Putte, State Senator, District 26, will be presented with the Outstanding State Leader Award. The forum will be held in Austin, Texas, from January 31 through February 2, 2013. In addition, Leodoro Martinez, Jr., Executive Director of the Middle Rio Grande Development Council in Carrizo Springs, will be presented with the Outstanding Local Leader Award. Both Senator Van de Putte and Mr. Martinez were nominated for these prestigious awards by Senator Judith Zaffirini, a former Outstanding State Leader Award winner. This year marks the 28th annual Texas Leadership Forum, sponsored by the John Ben Shepperd Public Leadership Institute. The forum will be held at the Omni Hotel Downtown Austin with events being held at both the hotel and the state Capitol. The forum will begin Thursday evening at the Omni Hotel with a reception and continue Friday at the state capitol. The opening session in the House of Representatives will be highlighted by nationally known economist, Dr. Ray Perryman. Break-out sessions fill the remainder of the day with topics concerning issues facing Texas. The conclusion will be a behind the scenes tour of the state capitol. Saturday will conclude the Forum with a panel discussion on issues with several state senators, representatives, and state agency directors participating, including State Representative Tryon Lewis and State Senator KelSeliger.
