Wilson City Council chambers will undergo several weeks of repair after the discovery of water damage in two walls. Crews have not yet determined the source of the moisture. City maintenance crews discovered the damage Friday before the weekend rain. While the damage does not affect the structure of the building, all October meetings will be moved to the Charles W. Pittman Operations Center until the repairs are complete. The operations center is located at 1800 Herring Avenue. October meetings for City Council, Planning and Zoning and the Board of Adjustment will not be televised. Those meetings will be in the large room, left rear of the center, where the North Carolina Eastern Municipal Power Agency board meets. The U.S. 301 Advisory Board also uses the council room. If that committee meets in October, members will be notified of a new location by the city's planning staff.
