Alarm Summary Overcurrent- The electrical current flowing to the drive unit exceeded the specifications of the drive.

Related Alarms S01 0032, 0061

In-Depth Analysis Electrical current flowing through the drive out to the motor is exceeding the specification of the drive. The alarm is more commonly seen on mechanical problems. The first thing to check is that you are not at the end of travel on the ballscrew for the axis.

Corrective Action 1) Check to see if machine is mechanically sound. Make sure the axis is not hitting the end of the ballscrew. Check to see if when the motor removed the axis will turn freely by hand. 2) If the alarm occurs at power on of the NC unit, disconnect the UVW wires leading to the motor, and cycle power. 3) If the alarm is not present then megger the motor and check the wiring going back to the motor for shorts. 4) If the alarm still exists then replace the drive unit. 5) If alarm occurs when speed command is given, remove the UVW wires from the drive unit. Give the drive unit a speed command. Does the 3B alarm appear or another alarm? If alarm 3B alarm appears, then replace the drive unit. If another alarm appears, check the wiring to the motor and megger the motor. 6) Exchange the drive unit.
