FAKTOR SOSIODEMOGRAFI YANG BERHUBUNGAN DENGAN USIA MENARCHE PADA SISWI SMP DI PURWOKERTO ABSTRAK Menarche merupakan saat

pertama kali seorang wanita mengalami haid (menstruasi).

ASSOCIATION BETWEEN SOCIODEMOGRAPHIC FACTORS AND MENARCHE AGE IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT IN PURWOKERTO ABSTRACT Menarche is the first time woman is having periods (menstruation). Menarche age may vary between individuals. Early menarche age may cause some negative impact on adolescent health in the future. Important factors related to menarche age in girls are the sociodemographic factors, such as genetic factors (heredity), ethnicity, nutritional status, physical activity, family socioeconomics status, and environment. This study aims to determine the sociodemographic factors associated with menarche age in junior high school students in Purwokerto. The study design was cross-sectional, with the number of respondents 175 level VII and VIII students at SMP N 8 and SMP Susteran Purwokerto in academic year 2011-2012. The sampling technique was simple random sampling. Dependent variable in this study was the menarche age and the independent variables were ethnicity, body mass index (BMI), waist-hip ratio (WHR), physical activity, socioeconomic status, and exposure to sexual audivisual. Data analyses used in this research were univariate, bivariate with chi-square test, and multivariate with logistic regression test. The results showed that the average menarche age in this study was 150,42 months (12,54 years). The average menarche age in nonJavanese ethnic girls was lower than that of the Javanese ethnic girls, 146,84 months (12,2 years) and 153,67 months (12,8 years) respectively. Chi-square test results showed that there were significant associations between ethnicity (X2=19,096, p=0,000), BMI (X2=5,508, p=0,019), and socioeconomics status (X2=4,435, p=0,035) and the menarche age. The multivariate analyses found that BMI (p=0,037, RP=2,898), WHR (p=0,029, RP=2,397), and ethnicity (p=0,000, RP=0,170) were factors that influenced the menarche age, whereas the most dominant factor was the IMT. According to the result can be concluded that young women with BMI 23.5 kg/m2 and WHR 0.8 are risk factors for the lower menarche age. Javanese ethnic was a protective factor of lower menarche age.
