The Outsiders Facebook Project Directions Introduction: The Outsiders takes place during the 1960s in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Life for a teenager was much different 50 years ago than it is today and many of those differences are evident in the book. Do you think the story would be different if the setting had been in 2012 instead of the 1960s? Think about the following situations for example: 1. Why are Johnny and Ponyboy cut off from the rest of the group while at the church in Windrixville? 2. Why must Sodapop rely on a handwritten note to communicate with Ponyboy? 3. What does Dally do when he robs the store after Johnnys death? 4. What might Cherry Valance be thinking as she ignores the imaginary line between the Socs and Greasers Directions: Pretend that The Outsiders took place in the 21st century. This means that, like most teenagers today, all of the characters in the book would be carrying cellphones. In addition, like more teenagers, they all have Facebook accounts. Task: Create a Facebook wall for Johnny, Ponyboy, Cherry, or Dally. The status updates and replies should accurately reflect the characters personalities as well as their relationships with each other. Your status updates should focus on major events in the plot. *You will complete rough draft for this assignment using the Facebook template given and lined piece of paper, but we will actually complete these templates in the computer lab when I return to work next week Your project must include: At least 5 status updates from your character. *3 out of these 5 must include supporting quotes from the novel that show where you got the idea for the status update Notes: at the top of the page) d capitalization (for those of us who dont understand text language) At least 20 replies to your status updates *must be from characters in the novel & reflect these characters personalities Responses that are relevant to the story and reveal characters personalities and relationships. An Info section about the character personality (interests, hobbies, music, etc.) At least one Message from a character to your character discussing a main conflict and how it could be solved At least two Events planned that would relate to the character you pickedinclude two quotes that show how these Events related to the characters personality, interests, etc When we get into the computer labadd pictures to FB account w/ captions describing the picture and quotes from the novel that show why the picture is important to the character you have picked
