Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, also known as MCA Pune International Cricket Centre is a cricket stadium located at Gahunje

near Pune, India Just few months before the completion of the stadium, MCA sold the naming rights of the stadium to Subrata Roys Sahara Group

The tussle is over MCA and Sahara over the non Payment of the dues.

MCA had invited proposals for acquiring, naming and for certain ancillary rights. Sahara bought the rights agreeing at RS 219crore. Sahara sources claimed that MCA has not followed certain conditions that were set at the time of contract, and Sahara Group, therefore is not liable for the payment of the dues.

In spite of MCA not complying with the vital conditions precedents and not co-operating with Sahara for timely execution of the definitive documents, Sahara paid almost R 73 crore only as an advance, in good faith So far paid MCA a sum close to RS98 crore till date even though the definitive documents were

yet to be executed between parties.

MCAs stadium is yet to be complete. Phase One was completed ahead of the IPL-2012 season. But Phase Two work, which includes adding a few more seats in the stands, and building a training facility

Sahara has moved Bombay High Court against Maharashtra Cricket Association for "wrongful termination of agreements and filed a petition under section 9 of Arbitration and Conciliation Act

MCA had invited proposals for acquiring, naming and for certain ancillary rights in respect of the stadium which was being constructed alongside Pune Expressway, including the right to construct and own a club on a contiguous piece of land adjacent to the Stadium. SAHARA India seemed quite interested in the proposal Just few months before the completion of the stadium, MCA sold the naming rights of the stadium to Subrata Roys Sahara Group for a whopping Rs219 crore.

in the MCAs stadium committee confirmed that the tussle over non-payment of dues. MCA requested for further advance of Rs. 15 crores from Sahara, and while the parties were finalising the terms and conditions on which such advance was to be given, MCA sent a notice to Sahara, alleging default in payment and non-payment of dues by Sahara will terminated the agreements

MCA gave a notice to Sahara Group, in response, Sahara Group promised to settle the dues. However, as the events progressed, and the promises were not kept. Repeated efforts to contact Saharas corporate communications head Abhijeet Sarkar turned out to be futile. MCA terminated the agreement on the ground of default in payments and covered the name of the stadium Subrata Roy with black cloth on Tuesday.

Bombay High Court as on 8th January has directed MCA not to cover the name of the Stadium until Wednesday.
