    Tangents to Circles

    Save immediately to your I-drive. Save as: lastname.firstname.tangentstocircles 1. Make a circle. 2. Construct two radii using the segment tool. 3. Select one radius (just the segment part no endpoints) and select its endpoint on the circle. 4. Go to CONSTRUCT, then PERPENDICULAR LINE. 5. Do to the same thing for the other radius. Steps 1&2

    6. You should have two lines intersecting outside the circle. Select both the lines only and go to CONSTRUCT, then INTERSECTION.

    Steps 3-6

    7. Select the point of intersection and the endpoint of one of the radii on the circle (only these two elements). Press CONTROL then "L" (creates a segment on top of the line) 8. Complete step #7 again but with the radius' endpoint. 9. Now select both of the lines and go to DISPLAY, then HIDE PERPENDICULAR LINES.

    10.Label the center of the circle as point A. Select the text tool . Then hover over the point. When the hand turns black click on the point and it should be labeled. If you want to change the label, double click on the letter and change it in the next screen. Label the intersection as point H and the other endpoints of the radii as points T and M.
