Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, Thor, Black Widow adalah para jagoan yang dipertemukan dalam satu team super hero. Cerita The Avengers ini berawal dari tragedi di sebuah agensi mata-mata S.H.I.E.L.D pimpinan Nick Fury yang sedang melakukan eksperimen untuk membuat nuklir dari sebuah energi cube yang disebut Tesseract. Nah, Tesseract ini memiliki kekuatan super yang mampu membangkitkan atau mengganti energi listrik sedunia. Namun, sebuah kejadian tak terduga pun muncul. Kekuatan energi Tesseract ternyata membuka portal antara bumi dan dunia Asgard. Tak disangka, ketika portal tersebut terbuka muncullah Loki. As you know, Loki ini merupakan tokoh jahat dalam film The Avengers ini. Tujuan utama Loki ialah untuk membalas dendam terhadap Thor yang merupakan saudara tirinya sendiri karena ia tidak berhasil menjadi seorang raja di planet Asgard. Setelah muncul, Loki pun langsung mengobrak-abrik eksperimen yang dilakukan oleh agensi S.H.I.E.L.D. Tak hanya sampai di situ. Loki yang mempunyai kekuatan untuk menghipnotis seseorang, langsung melancarkan aksinya. Hasilnya 2 anggota S.H.I.E.L.D yaitu Dr. Erik Selvig dan agen Clint Barton/Hawkeye kehilangan pikiran normalnya, yang akhirnya menjadi pengikut Loki. Tahu bahwa dunia terancam karena ulah Loki, maka pemimpin S.H.I.E.L.D yaitu Nick Fury berencana untuk menyatukan semua superhero yang ada di bumi. Proyek ini dinamakan The Avengers yaitu mengumpulkan agen Black Widow,Hulk,Captain America dan Iron Man.
