oftheS63top(S63TU)enginetothepreviousS63engineisthelatestfuel-mixturegenerationtechnologyTurbo-ValvetronicDirectInjection(TVDI).TherearestrongsimilaritiesheretotheN20and
N55engines.TheaiminthedevelopmentoftheS63top(S63TU)enginewasnottoachieveapower
greaterthanthatoftheS63engine,buttoincreasetheresponseandrevcharacteristics,whileatthe

Donotopenthefuelsystemifthecoolanttemperatureisabove40C/104F.Theresidual
pressureinthehighpressurefuelsystemcouldcausebodilyinjury.
Itisessentialtoobservetheutmostcleanlinesswhenworkingonthehighpressurefuelsystemandto
followtheproperworkingproceduresdescribedintherepairinstructions.Evenminutesoilingordamageatthethreadconnectionsofthehighpressurelinescouldcauseleaks.
WhenworkingonthefuelsystemoftheS63TUengine,itisimportanttoensurethattheignitioncoils
arenotwetwithfuel.Theresistanceofthesiliconematerialisgreatlyreducedbysustainedcontact
withfuel.Thiscouldresultinarcingatthetopofthesparkplugandmisfiring.
Beforemakinganymodificationstothefuelsystem,alwaysremovetheignitioncoilsandprotectthesparkplugshaftagainsttheingressoffuelbycoveringthemwithacloth
Beforereinstallingthesolenoidvalveinjectors,removetheignitioncoilsandensurethatgreatestpossiblecleanlinessismaintained.
Ignitioncoilsheavilysaturatedwithfuelmustbereplaced.
7.2.Fuelpumpcontrol
Thefuelisdeliveredfromthefueltankthroughtheelectricfuelpumpviathefeedlineataprimary
pressureof5bartothehighpressurepump.Theprimarypressureismonitoredviathelow-pressure
sensor.Thefuelissentfromtheelectricfuelpumpasrequired.Intheeventofmalfunctionofthesensortheelectricfuelpumpcontinuestooperateat100%deliveryratewithterminal15ON.
