Reflection # 10
The homily tells us about the desire for power and prestige was as strong as it is today among many of our leaders. Strange but true even among the close followers of Jesus. This weeks homily proves that so many people want to be great, and by greatness they mean to be praised, to be served, to get rich, to be followed at every command. No wonder, in our society today, politics is the favorite pastime of many. They talk about how to gain power, how to stay in power, or how to grab power. Jesus idea of greatness is different. If one wants to be great he must be the servant of all. To be great is to be humble, to serve and not to be served, to be a man for others. To be great is to be concerned about others first before ones own.

Lord, teach me how to be a true man-for-others. Teach me to serve without counting the cost. Teach me how put the needs of others ahead of mine. Let me never fall into the temptation of desiring honor for myself. Let me learn that true happiness lies in the good work I do for people.
