ARGUS-Version-History
ARGUS-Version 4.4.0 5.0.0 5.1 5.1.5 5.2 5.2.2 5.3 5.4 5.4.1 Release-Date 30.01.2001 04.11.2002 12.12.2003 20.10.2004 15.12.2004 30.06.2006 28.06.2007 June 2009 June 2010 SP 11 (11/2008) SP 7 SP 3 (08/2008) (04/2010) SP 18 (07/2008) Remark / Last Service Pack No more supported
Running ARGUS-SW requires (unique) Hardlock and associated Option-Files Up to version 5.2: parallel Hardlock is delivered since version 5.2: USB-Hardlock is delivered Multiple parallel Hardlocks can be plugged in a row on on the PC (e.g. ARGUS-HL, MapView-HL and AllAudio-HL) Only 1 USB-Hardlock can be plugged on the PC; plugging more than 1 USB-Hardlocks to the PC results that only one of them will be recognized (random which of them) Starting with MapView-version and AllAudio-version Only one Hardlock for all applications together is needed
Inside the Option-file there is coded: - the associated Hardlock-nr. - the number, how often a device-driver can be loaded (default 2) There are about 25 different ARGUS-options, categorized to device-drivers groups, measurement-modes, interfaces and extensions Options are needed on measurement-unit as well as on controlunit. As a rule of thumb: - basic-option is required everywhere - device-driver-options are required, where devices are (i.e. on the measurement unit) - measurement-mode and interfaces are required, where the respective action is initiated see also document: Configuration and Licensing ARGUS
ARGUS can be installed as application (start via desktop-icon) or as service service can be used for un-manned measurement-units, where during a PC-start/reboot ARGUS will be started automatically (without any operator-action) for unmanned station, there is also the possibility to start ARGUS via the autostart-group of windows

In the manual MAN_ARGUS_Support_EN.pdf, which is located on the ARGUS-DVD in the directory \Documents\ there are further information about this training like: installation and configuration for - third party HW (e.g. digi-board) - additional applications (e.g. DDFMMI) - drivers and utilities -

Lesson-2 ARGUS-Configuration:
BEGIN of LESSON-2
Starting ARGUS the first time after successful installation: The first task of ARGUS is the configuration of the usergroups and user
After successful configuration of an user and login into ARGUS, there is an empty visualizer Now, you have to do the Measurement- and Control-Unit configuration
Lesson-2 ARGUS-Configuration:
l
In the Measurement Unit Configuration there are 2 categories which have to be configured: General and Devices Under General, there are 3 groups to be configured

Transducer and Corrections 1/3
For Absolute Measurements the following Objects have to be taken in account :
Transducer Factor of the selected Antenna Correction Factor No. of Connectors DC-Feeder, Filters, Attenuators, Lightning Protectors and cables types before the Switching Matrix No. of Connectors cables and Filters after the Switching Matrix
RF

Transducer and Corrections 2/3
l
Using the ARGUS-Table-Wizard is the easiest way for generating Transducers and Corrections
The Path Correction must be generated before the device configuration stage The Transducer (factors) can be generated before or during device configuration stage.

Setting the System Path
Signal Path: The signal path/ correction (created in the table wizard) must be referenced to the system path Devices with multiple inputs, eg, ESMD, DDF255 need to have their inputs assigned to the respective paths

Control Unit Configuration 1/8
l
Control Unit Configuration is started via the menu Configuration Control Unit Configuration
In the Control Unit Configuration there are 5 folders which have to be configured: General Settings, System View, User List, User Spec. Export Formats and Status Information System

Control Unit Configuration 7/8: User List
During the first login-process to ARGUS, the operator is forced to enter one user + usergroup and an appropriate password. Basically, this is enough to operate with ARGUS ! On this configuration-page, it is possible to add addtional user and usergroups. Meaning of usergroups (generally valid for user-classAdministrator): - The data in the navigator are usually only visible for user of the same usergroup (exeption: Transducer and Correction). -Write Protection for file can be changed only by members of the same usergroup Meaning of user-class: Administrator is enabled to edit and sending configurations, deleting / modifying meas.-results of the same usergroup. User: Limited rights in comparison to the administrator
