GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF T-72

T-72 TANKS. Ajaya Tank

Tank T-72 M1 is a full tracked fighting vehicle having

powerful Armament, Reliable armour protection and high
mobility. The tank carries a crew of Three.

The tank is equipped with a 125mm smooth bore Gun

stabilized in Elevation & Azimuth, a Co-Axial 7.62mm machine
gun and a 12.7mm Anti Air Craft machine gun mount installed
on the commander’s coupola.

The tank is provided with high accuracy laying and sighting

materials, and with an Automatic Loading Gear ensuring high
effective rate of gun fire. The anti air-craft machine gun mount is
provided with sighting and laying equipment that makes it possible
to fight both areal & ground targets.

The tank is equiped with devices designed to protect the crew and
inner equipment from a short wave in case of a neuclear
explosion, as well as to protect the crew from radiological agents.
As to penetrating radiation the crew and inner equipments are
protected by means of NBC inside seats.

Provision is made for Underwater Streame Crossing Equipments, Smoke

Granade Launching System, Smoke Generating Equipments for placing
smoke screens, and a Fire Fighting System to extinguish fire inside the
tank.

The tank carries entrenching equipments for cut making and equiped with a
Tread Mine Exploder for making passages in mine fields.
