ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGE The advantages are the (1) almost everyone uses it.

The are only three countries in the world the don't officially use this system being Liberia, Myanmar and the United States. (2) All other units can be derived from the SI units, e.g. 'speed' is in meters per second, 'force' is in Newton (N), but 1 N = 1 kg * m/s2 The disadvantage is that most units are not used in everyday life (especially in those three countries). Let me ask the simple question: "What is the outside temperature in your city right now?" Living in the US you probably answer in Fahrenheit. I would answer in Celcius. The SI unit is Kelvin. See what I mean? IMPORTANT OF SI UNIT The system of measurements is very important in everyday life . In the past , various systems of measurements were used. For example , length was measured in units like foot , yard , chain and mile . Weight was measured in units like pound , ounce , kati , tahil . Today , many countries in the world use the same units of measurements . We say that they use standard units . The standard units used are the S.I. units . Under this system of units , mass is measured in kilograms (kg) and length is measured in metres (m). The use of standard units makes it easier for people from different countries to communicate with each other . Furthermore , the use of a standard units means a measurement in that unit has the same value anywhere in the world .
