Introduction: Motive is an influential attitude to accomplish the desire work. Without motive no challenging work can be done. It is an important factor in classroom teaching-learning practices. So a teacher should know about the motive of students in learning process. Different motives may coexist of an individual student at one time. But which motive will activate a students behavior, it is difficult to identify to a teacher. It is assume that different types of motives exist in some sort of hierarchy. But the strongest motive produces the behavior. Students may show the same behavior in similar assessment situations but with different motives. For example, on Tuesday a student may work hard on a formal classroom assessment because he wants the social status among his peers that come with success on the test. On the day, the student may work hard on a portfolio assessment because he needs the approval of the teacher. Kagan and Lang (1978) contend that children and adolescent have six basic motives that operate in schools: (1) desire for approval, (2) desire to model or to initiate, (3) desire for mastery (4) desire to resolve uncertainty (5) desire for control, and (6) desire to vent hostility. So the motive results in success on an assessment are a complicated process. What does motive mean: Motive means an influential potentiality to do the work within the range of the participant. Ability to work, eagerness/self confident to do work and support to accomplish the work etc are the different dimension of motiveness.
