Choral Speaking Competition 2013

Date Time Venue Participants : 6 March 2013 (Wednesday) : 2.30 pm 4.30 pm : Al- Farabi Hall : PISMP Sem 1 and 3 Students (7 units excluding 8 units TESL)

Rules & Regulations for Choral Speaking : Eligibility: This competition is open to all teacher trainees of PISMP Sem 1 and Sem 3 non-TESL IPG KDRI.

Time: Team: Text: Text can be originally written by students or from other sources and can be in the form of poetry or short prose. Participants are not allowed to refer to any notes or printed tests during the performance. Text presented must not touch on sensitive issues, such as race, religion, colour, personalities, etc. Text choosen must be based on one of the following themes : o Education o Environment o Health o Flora and Fauna o Fashion o Current Issue It is eligible to be humorous but must instilled moral values. Copies of choral speaking text must be submitted to the organizers three days prior to the competition. Each choral speaking team is to come from the same class which comprises of all the teacher trainees. A conductor should be appointed from these students. Each team is given a presentation time limit of 6 9 minutes. No marks will be awarded thereafter.

Attire: All participants should wear decent attire. For the conductor, the use of gloves is allowed.

Exclusion: There should be no inclusions of music, singing, sketches, drama, costuming, props to enhance the presentation of artificial sound effects which are electronically or physically aided. Stage Arrangment : The participants will be arranged in three rows. Movement: Hand gestures are allowed but the movement of the lower part of the body (from waist to limbs and the legs) is prohibited.

Scoring: Judges: Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the winning team. The judges for this level will be appointed by the English Department of IPG KDRI. Scores collected will be refererred to scoring forms. If the result is draw, jury will pick the winner base on the majority votes. Juries decision is final.

CHORAL SPEAKING COMPETITION ENGLISH WEEK 2013 TENTATIVE

2.15 PM : Participants registration. 2.30 PM : Event start, prayer recital. 2.45 PM : Choral Speaking performance (conducted by PISMP Sem 1 and 3) 4.00 PM : Performance ends Juries given time to decide the winners. 4.10 PM : Speech by head of jury. 4.15 PM : Price giving. 4.30 PM : Event ends.
