Gr 6 Jazz Music WebQuest

Once upon a time, jazz was the most popular music. Millions of regular folks danced to it, and millions more made it the soundtrack of their everyday lives. So what changed? Throughout the quest you will explore the history of jazz music, its culture, language and its sounds to understand why it was so popular. At the end of this quest you will be asked to reflect on one piece of music that you think made it so popular and that you enjoyed the most. Task The Jazz board of Ontario is looking for one song that best represents jazz musicians and the culture of jazz. The song and explanation chosen will be awarded free tickets to meet some local jazz musicians and attend a jazz concert at the CBC studio. Your task is to understand some of the important features of jazz music, its language and some of its most popular musicians. You will then choose a song that you think best represents jazz as a whole and provide a description why you chose the song. Process and Resources A. Conclusion Now that you have heard a large variety of some of the most popular jazz music, you will have to choose one song that you think best represents the culture of jazz. Once you have chosen your song, write a persuasive paragraph (5-8 sentences) about why you this song is the best for CBC.
