PHYSICAL DESIGN (Assuming 20 students) 5 groups of 4 desks o Encourages collaboration students desks Easy partner (shoulder partner, face to face partner, etc.) Desks would be located opposite the classroom library o Encourages collaboration at desks and independent reading at the library o Classroom library would be comfortable (bean bag chairs, etc.) Inviting environment Provide ample storage Locate desk where I could oversee student work o Place chattier desks closer to my desk
RULES Student created rules Student Bill of Rights o Each table will decide on one right they believe they are entitled to in the classroom o We will then generate ways to determine how we could protect each of those rights Maximum of 6 rules made up of right statements o I am entitled to _____ so I will do _____to make sure it is protected All students will sign the Bill of Rights
ROUTINES Two cans for pencils: sharpened and need to be sharpened o Students will drop off unsharpened pencils and take a sharpened one o I will do the pencil sharpening Attendance Sticks
RELATIONSHIPS Greet all students at the door each morning Community building activities Have students call on each other during classroom discussion Cooperative learning activities
